Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius: A review in truth
The final eclipse in the Sagittarius / Gemini series will occur on the 4th December 2021, with a New Moon Solar Eclipse at 12 degrees of Sagittarius. This eclipse signals the end of a storyline that commenced in June 2020, and won’t activate these signs again until December 2029.
Since the first Sagittarius eclipse last June, the major theme has been around truth – the seeking and the blurring of it. In some ways, we’ve all had to face our hard truths in some aspect of our lives. Whether this is experienced within our personal lives, or in the public domain such as mainstream media, oftentimes the real truth is hard to take especially in times of stress and change when our ego selves are holding onto whatever stability it can – even the stability of falsehoods. But hopefully with the final eclipse in Sagittarius, we can resolve some of these issues of truth and perhaps take ourselves one step closer towards our personal liberation.
“The truth is like a tempest: it causes wreckage. People delight more when they hear talk of fallacies than truths. They are fascinated with falsity and astounded by the truth. The truth has been bitter since hemlock was given to Socrates.” Gargha Cuichin
What has this storyline been for you?
As eclipses change signs every two or so years, they end old stories and bring in new ones. This is why astrologers often describe eclipses as the great endings and beginnings in life. The themes of such changes are described by the signs in which the Lunar Nodes are in.
So given that we are now about to end an eclipse theme that started in June 2020, can you think of what this story line has been for you? Being of the essence of Jupiter and Mercury, the Sagittarius and Gemini eclipse themes have been centered around:
- Learning and education
- Travel and movement
- Truth, knowledge and beliefs
- Technology and media
- Data and information
- The mind and its infirmities
It’s likely that we have all experienced some kind of ordeal related to these themes above, especially those with strong Sagittarius or Gemini placements in their charts or those experiencing their Nodal returns (aged 36-38 or 55-57 years).
Beyond the Sagittarius / Gemini eclipses
At the time of writing, the world has since rolled out a Covid-19 vaccination program with over 40% of the worldwide population now fully vaccinated (Our World In Data, Nov 30, 2021).
Governments worldwide are “pushing towards integration” with many controversial vaccine mandates now in place via new regulations, policies and data checking protocols as a means to open up the economy and travel borders. Meanwhile, a community distrust is growing – mainly from those who oppose the new policies and mandates. They are seeking more clarity about such programs being rolled out as they are misaligned to values and ideals such as privacy, freedom, sovereignty and inclusion.
While this issue is unlikely to go away any minute, the shifting of the Lunar Nodes to the signs of Taurus and Scorpio (December 2021 – April 2023) suggests a relocation of focus. I envisage the change of eclipse elements from a fire/air sign to an earth/water sign could pull the experiences of these societal ordeals right down to confrontations of personal relationships. Where the Sagittarius/Gemini eclipses presented ideological conflicts of the mind, I believe the Taurus/Scorpio eclipses may play out in the domain of our hearts.
The rulership of the Taurus and Scorpio are the nocturnal versions of Venus and Mars who will bring lessons of give and take; partnership and independence; and, reconciliation and conflict. As new policies, mandates and regulations filter down from the macro-level to that of the single global citizen, it’s likely we’re about to encounter some trials of interpersonal relationships as we each interface our communities with new layers of obligations and regulations. It’s also likely to make us all question what we want in life, our desires and what we’re prepared to fight for.
But in the meantime, the Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius happening on the 4th December will be a good opportunity to reflect on what you’ve learnt over the past 18 months. Consider where your beliefs have shifted and where they have stayed staunchly ingrained. Have you developed your technical abilities? What truths have you discovered or confronted? What knowledge have you shared? Did you meet a new teacher or mentor? Buy a ton of books? Signed up to lots of courses? What did you learn? How is your mental health?
Upon this review, allow yourself permission to lay this to rest and ask for the next evolution of this new body of knowledge that you’ve gained. Be prepared to embody these new truths in practical, material ways.
Review of some previous articles…
Shifting of the Nodes – Truth, lies and the life of Edward Snowden, published April 2020:
“The Lunar Nodes will now bring to focus a collective search for truth and information and how this connects us to renewed beliefs and a vital re-education phase to bring us into a new paradigm of life.”
How to work with eclipse story lines & the upcoming ‘preview’ Sagittarius eclipse, published May 2020:
“Will these eclipse shakeups test our personal truths, our spiritual or religious beliefs, the receiving of information, our critical thinking, the way we interact with data and technology, the way we learn, the content of our education system, our trust with media, our personal privacy or the way we communicate and connect with each other and with whom? All will be revealed over time, starting with the first eclipse in Sagittarius on the 6th June.”
Solar Eclipse in Sag: A new world reset, published November 2020:
“… we’re challenged to loosen the grasp we hold on our realities and embrace new ideas and truths beyond what our rational minds can naturally account for. …You may see this in your environment as events and experiences that hold a sense of ‘out with the old, and in with the new’; changes in (or the beginnings of) perspectives, policies, systems, leadership and practices within the broader social context; a push towards integration of disjointed aspects of society – technologies, alternative practices, minority groups and the like.”
