Quote of the week

Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

things to do this week
  • Use Stationing Direct Mercury to plan for any announcements or important conversations that require clarity and directness

  • Refer to 26 April 2022 – things occurring on this day may be linked to this week’s Stationing Direct Mercury

  • Expect progress on your plans mixed in with obstacles, blockages and negation

  • See any possible obstructions as a way to get a reality check on the viability of your plans

  • Compare 25 Aquarius and 26 Taurus placements as they signify the areas clashing between progress and obstruction

  • Work on tasks that require focus, concentration or discipline
Transit dates
  • 30 May   New Moon in Gemini

  • 3 Jun      Mercury Stations Direct

  • 5 Jun      Saturn Stations Retrograde

This week starts with a very welcomed New Moon in Gemini on 30 May. Why? Because a new Moon cycle in a new sign means that we get an energetic clearing from the very intense eclipse lunar cycle of last month. While the Moon is still dark on Monday, you’ll start to feel more renewal and momentum build by mid-week. A lunar cycle in Gemini brings us into the realm of ideas, cerebral activity, technical affairs and rational thoughts. This should help you crawl out of the dark abyss of the past two weeks to get a big breath of fresh air into your lungs.

The feeling of renewal from the new Moon cycle is reinforced when the ruler of Gemini, Mercury, Stations Direct on 3 June. This signals a forward movement of plans that may have felt like they’ve been backpedaling for the past three weeks (however there are some caveats explained in the second half of this article).

Mercury rules all manner of communication, technology and movement so it’s likely that at some stage in the past three weeks, you may have experienced delays, reversals and malfunctioning of all Mercurial matters – internet issues, postal delays, car accidents, lost items, miscommunications, bad reception, plans / schedules going awry, brain fog and tiredness are some examples of such Mercury Retrograde issues.

The change in Mercury’s direction can show a turnaround of events. It can be likened to reversing a car out of your driveway. The moment you change from reverse to first gear to move forward, is this moment of Direct Stationing. You’re not quite moving yet, and when you do move, you’re still slow and building speed. Although you can see the road ahead, you’re still in front of your house. Nevertheless, you know where you’re going and taking action to get yourself there. So, while this ‘turnaround’ of Mercury matters doesn’t necessarily mean all problems will be fixed straight away, it does however, illuminate a clearer path forward that may not have been so obvious before. At the very least, it can clear the mind of any thoughts that could have obstructed one’s ability to move forward.

Although the stationing date isn’t until 3 June, you’ll feel the ‘turnaround’ sentiments all week. The area of your chart where 26 degrees Taurus is located will point to the area of life where a shift is occurring. It’s likely that when Mercury crossed this point around 26 April 2022, you could have encountered situations related to this turning around. Perhaps you were made aware of an issue or event then, that’s now finally being resolved or finalised this week. Those undergoing a Mercury ruled year will definitely feel this strongly.

It’s not always necessary to do anything on these stationing dates, but simply to observe and be aware of the trajectory of that planet – ie. by referring back to 26 April 2022 when this degree was activated by Mercury and seeing whether it aligns to something in your plans this week. If something aligns, it can be very illuminating for you to know.

Other ways you could use this Stationing Direct Mercury is to plan an announcement or have a direct conversation with someone you’ve been meaning to have for a while. You’ll be more prepared to get your message across in a clearer manner at this stage.

By 5 June, it will be Saturn’s turn to station, however, Saturn will Station Retrograde and prepare to move backwards instead of forwards like Mercury. Herein lies the caveat. On a Saturn Station Retrograde, we see a concentrated focus of all Saturnian matters. This is usually felt through experiences of obstacles, blockages, negation often caused by rigid attitudes, fear and austerity. Therefore on the one hand, we have Mercury moving forward and attempting to reignite our delayed plans and on the other hand, we have Saturn throwing obstacles at it. The two planets will be in a separating 1 degree square from each other, signifying that their relationship is tense. Hardly seems fair.

One way I suggest managing this is that the wisdom of Saturn, in all its sheer frustration, can be a great cross examination for our plans’ viability in the real world. At times, the ‘gung hoe’ nature of Morning Star planets, such as this Stationing Direct Mercury, can deliver great boldness and enthusiasm at the cost of careful consideration. If Mercury can be patient and listen to old father Saturn who can see further down the track, it may prevent potential issues along its journey later on. If you experience both a forward momentum of your plans as well as obstacles against them, you may like to consider this a blessing in disguise rather than react with sadness or frustration.

Saturn is operating from the house of Aquarius at 25 degrees  – this is the place in your chart that shows where the possible blockages are coming from. Compare this with 26 degrees of Taurus where you’re eager to get going on plans around the topics of this house. This issue will be of prime importance this week, and part of a great story for the year as these two planets’ cycles unfold. You may find a natal chart consultation helpful if you’d like to understand how the life topics fall onto your natal chart.

You’ll also discover in time that the events of this week will be connected to situations around 22 January 2023. That’s because Saturn will travel backwards from 25 degrees Aquarius this week, and will eventually move forward again, hitting this exact point by 22 January 2023. Take notice of what’s happening this week as it will be forming a foundation, structure or possible consequences in about seven months’ time.

The other way you could use a stationing Saturn is to focus on tasks that require concentration, discipline and productivity. It’s possible that Stationing Saturn will bring down the vibe to encourage you to go within and stew over important and serious matters. Depressive tendencies are also quite possible with this transit – just remember that it is temporary. If you’re undergoing a Saturn activated timelord this year, you’ll feel this strongly.

UPCOMING SYMPOSIUM – Re-Becoming the One: Healing our Relationships to Gender, Sexuality, Love and Life Itself

Between 14-21 June, I’ll be presenting at a free, online symposium called Re-Becoming the One:  Healing Our Relationships to Gender, Sexuality, Love, and Life Itself. I’ll be talking about the significant 300 and 1200 year cycles that Venus and Mars have commenced this year, and looking at how this activates our individual natal charts. This symposium brings together work being done on the healing and re-emergence of the divine feminine with work being done on the healing of the divine masculine.  It then also contextualizes this healing work in a way that is explicitly inclusive and supportive of LGBTQIA+ identities.

This is a free event but registrations are essential.

I hope you’ll be able to join me at this event.
