The Third Quarter Moon opens the last week of May, and invites us to do a lot of mental processing of the events that have unfolded within this eclipse lunation cycle. While the New Moon Taurus eclipse was quite placid, we certainly felt the full force of eclipse consciousness with the unrelenting Scorpio Full Moon eclipse last week. Processing the drama could start to make more sense this week, and the Third Quarter Moon is a great time to start breaking things down and reevaluating where you’re at now to determine your next steps forward.

Luckily, there are many supportive aspects this week to help us find our way through the darkening phases of the Moon this week.

Mars sextiles Pluto and Mercury before making a conjunction with Jupiter – this looks like a positive application of effort towards successful ventures or big picture plans that could have impact or power. Pluto brings an uncompromising resilience, Mars offers courage in the face of strife, Mercury brings the intelligence and Jupiter the influence and abundance. When they align, these forces could bring powerful potential but could also burn you out at the same time, mentally and physically. Use the diminishing energy of the darkening Moon to go within and take it easy.

The combination of Pluto Mars Jupiter also points to potential success with finances, investments and assets, especially with themes of losses (Pluto) leading to gains (Jupiter) but through the courageous nature of Mars. This energy has an element of risk-taking, which you could observe through financial activity or generally, in personal behaviours this week. Be on the lookout for daredevil behaviour or people taking a leap of faith into things they normally wouldn’t do.

With Mercury interjecting with a sextile to Mars during this time, it will amplify topics of transactions, connections, curiosity and movement. This planet of communication could provide helpful intel towards your venture or passion project, and also helps to make any risks you take more calculated.

Through Mars’ determination, action and effort, you could also discover greater potential within yourself, deeper areas for growth and the potential to transcend fear into opportunities. Has fear, paranoia or vulnerability ever prevented you from doing something you need / want to do? Use Mars’ dynamic transmission between Pluto, Mercury and Jupiter this week to help you convert these shadows into potential strengths. The Sun’s sextile to Jupiter and Mars’ ingress into Aries at this time will also give you a confidence and energy boost to help you on your way.

Venus and Mercury both move into Taurus this week which should see a slight easing of pressure and an attempt to regain some stability. However, this is short lived given that Venus has to jump through the hoops of Pluto and Saturn to get to this stage, only to meet Saturn and Uranus on the other side again a fortnight later. While we may get some temporary respite these next couple of weeks, the topics of relationships, love and desire, equality and values continue to ensue as major collective themes this year. But for this week, there could be short opportunities for reconciliation and negotiation within interpersonal relationships that could be more fruitful, especially at the end of this week until the next. This is also an opportunity for a temporary respite to give you a break from the pressures you’ve felt lately. So perhaps try and make some time to catch up with a good friend, indulge in a good meal, sleep in, get a massage or anything you like to do for your self care management.

By Sunday, Mercury will rise again after its period of invisibility since 15 May. For stargazers out there, you’ll need to rise early in the morning to see Mercury on the eastern horizon just before sunrise. Be sure to find a clear, unobstructed horizon as this viewing will be swift and subtle. Then pray to Hermes for its winds to blow away the clouds.

For the collective, this Heliacal Morning Rise of Mercury symbolises the birth of our ideas and the projection of our voices. If you managed to work with the Mercury Cazimi last weekend and received some insights for the new 135-day Mercury cycle, this Morning Rise is an important moment of emergence for that vision. While Mercury is still slow and building strength, it nevertheless brings clarity and purpose for your path ahead, that may have been missing lately. As a result, you may notice your brain fog start to dissipate, your energy levels increasing and a slow regaining of consciousness after a mental slumber. If you’ve felt the need to withdraw over the past couple of weeks, Mercury’s rise could also symbolise a return to the external world. If you have been gestating something internally for a while, this Mercury Morning Rise is a great opportunity to project your message out into the world
