Date: 31 January – 6 February 2022

February starts off with a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm, following a heavy and slow January period (especially the first half of January).

The New Moon in Aquarius on the first day of February follows the commencement of a new Venus and Mercury cycle, so freshness and initiations are in the air, quite literally! Someone once told me that ideas continually circulate in the air and from time to time, they happen to get picked up by people. Perhaps February will give us that opportunity to pluck these ideas from the air. The Aquarian New Moon may encourage us to socialise and connect to our kindred communities more, opening us up to conversations and sparks of insights that could lead to important initiations for the next 6+ months.

I look forward to hearing what kinds of exciting ideas and projects you breathe life into this month. If you have empath tendencies, you would benefit from setting some boundaries to ensure you don’t get too carried away with the excitement or be dragged into someone else’s vision that doesn’t quite serve your purpose.

In fact, February has an entrepreneurial quality to it. In this same week, Mars will make an overcoming sextile to Jupiter, on the same day as Mercury stations direct (4 Feb). This activation brings a lot of energy, passion, productivity and courage to pursue ideas. Use this time to bring life force into your projects, especially those that are short-lived and high impact in nature. Working independently under this transit is recommended as the excessive heat of this combination could also lead to flare-ups and outbursts. Although, if this happens, it’s likely you will move on quickly from it. Nevertheless, finding a channel for this transit will help you become more productive and get more bang for your buck.

These two transits will also give us an insight into what May could bring when Jupiter enters Mars’ domain for a few months. Perhaps the events of this week could be a beta for what develops in May, so some succession planning could prove beneficial. Try thinking of a short-lived project now that could be replicated in a similar fashion in May. Or, take note of the projections occurring now so that they could be used again in May.

Lastly, this week also sees the new Saturn cycle begin as the planet of longevity, structures and duty is re-vitalised in the Sun’s fires (Cazimi) – yet another new cycle of initiation starting. When Saturn initiates a new synodic cycle, we’re reminded to have patience because in true Saturn style, things could feel slow and heavy, after all, his essence is to constrict and contract. When moving through the purifying fires of the Sun, we can use this opportunity to burn away any burdens that we don’t need to carry anymore. Saturn is a minimalist so consider culling your excesses. Establishing new boundaries, setting up processes, creating systems for your personal admin or other personal or business management tasks will be good praxis to bring in the new Saturn cycle. For many, there are usually much more enjoyable things to do with the weekend approaching, but a little discipline and perseverance here will hold you in good stead for the long game especially when Saturn sits powerfully in his own domain of Aquarius. Consider where Aquarius resides in your natal chart and that house will pinpoint which areas you’re likely to feel the constricting yet sustainable effects of the Saturn Cazimi.

your note of “concentrate on short, high-impact and replicable projects for later in the year”
connected with me– it seems a lot more attainable than the way i was initially thinking of this week with the new moon. anyway, i certainly have more energy than late, but i’m also in ovulation phase sooo i guess its a combo of post-retrograde, estrogen energy i’m flying on! lol

    • Shu Yap

Thanks for your input Liz. The energy thing could also be Mars in Capricorn – making things happen and being very productive. More on that in the next week’s news, stay tuned!
