June 2021 Forecast
June 2021 is jam-packed with Gemini busyness with several of the major transits of the year coming into alignment. At a glance, this month may be a bit of a rollercoaster ride, combining the highs of some really nourishing aspects, with the lows of some hard-hitting existential truth bombs.
WEEK ONE
Venus trine Jupiter, Sun trine Saturn
June starts off somewhat positively, with a meeting of the two benefic planets, Venus and Jupiter in a harmonious trine aspect on the 4th June. This could bring a temporary respite in your general mood through a feeling of optimism, a sense of things working out harmoniously, experiences of kindness and grace, some good luck coming to you and a general feeling of joy.
Having said this, we are still within the same cycle of the Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius from the 26th May, which is ruled by Jupiter, meaning that this respite is relative to the intensities that Jupiter has experienced lately. If you’re a mutable sign – Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces or Virgo – you probably know what I mean. Perhaps schedule this day to do something nice to ground yourself. If you’ve fared better, perhaps this would be a good time to do something nice for someone who is struggling. A gesture of help and assistance at this time could go a long way.
The 4th June is also when the Sun trines Saturn, bringing a healthy sense of balance and boundaries to the joy and indulgence of Venus / Jupiter. It’s also a great aspect for allowing our efforts and hard work to be acknowledged, as well as helping us recognise the purpose behind the necessities of life.
WEEK TWO
Mars opposite Pluto, Mercury square Neptune
As the second week emerges, we hit a confronting Mars opposite Pluto on the 6th June, along with a surreal Mercury square Neptune aspect for the second time. This combination brings a mixed bag of anger, aggression and conflict that can be uncompromising, cathartic and destructive. I’ll be watching the news this week as we may see active images of political action, resistance, defensiveness, conflict, corruption, rebellion and the like. With Mars in Cancer, we may also see this pent up anger display in the area of our home and domestic life. The Mercury Neptune square on the same day throws in questions about our reality as we may come to realize that our inner world is not that different to our external reality. Our dream states and thoughts become alive at this time, and depending on which end of the spectrum you sit on, may cause confusion or exuberance around the very tangible possibility of co-creation.
Annular Solar Eclipse in Gemini, Mercury Retrograde Cazimi & Anticia to July 2019 Solar Eclipse
This intense week is the prelude to the second eclipse of the season – the Annular Solar Eclipse in Gemini – the only solar eclipse in Gemini to occur in this whole series which commenced in June 2020. In keeping with the busy Gemini theme, there’s a lot to this eclipse.
Firstly, it’s ruled by Mercury who will be retrograde at the time of the eclipse, deepening the underworld experience to this already shadowy period of time. Where Gemini usually seeks explanations, information and rational thinking, it will struggle to do so during this time. As this will be the North Node eclipse, it brings a theme of navigating big changes in the way we want to show up in the world through our voice, our truth and our connections. What makes it tricky is that we may not necessarily know what we need to do right now. So, this could be a time of confusion, deep questioning and confronting polarities as we are encouraged to sit within the void of not knowing. Very hard for the Gemini energy to do! Again, lots of grounding practices and nervous system support are encouraged to help you be comfortable in this void of uncertainty. Chances are something big is brewing, and you’ll probably get a glimpse of this in six months time at the next Gemini Full Moon in December 2021.
Having said this, some opportunity for clarity could come quicker than expected with the Mercury Cazimi occurring just over 12 hours after this Solar Eclipse. Mercury Cazimis are momentary times where we have extreme clarity of thought, and are also considered auspicious for putting us in favour of those we seek assistance from. Look at what house this Cazimi is located for you (20° Gemini) and observe what shows up for you here. This interior conjunction of Mercury with the Sun also starts a whole new Mercury synodic cycle which will unravel over the next 4 months in a project of some sort. Therefore, the new moon north node eclipse combined with the new Mercury cycle conjunction, points to something being gestated here that involves communication, news, travel and the mind that’s seeking expression in reality.
In a more obscured technique in astrology called ‘Anticia’, I’ve also noticed that this Gemini eclipse is exactly at the anticia point of a solar eclipse on the 2nd July 2019 in Cancer. This shows a ‘secret’ connection between these two portals of new moon eclipse energy. Perhaps these two seemingly unrelated points in time are more interconnected than you may realise. Think of what new phase you may have started back in mid 2019 and consider that you may be commencing something now that has strong ties with that phase.
This anticia relationship between these two eclipses is made even more significant because this month’s Venus Moon conjunction (occurring two days after this Gemini eclipse) is happening at the exact point of the July 2019 Cancer eclipse! We’re seeing the connecting and nurturing essence of this Venus Moon conjunction linking these two eclipses by time and space at the ‘Gate of Creativity’ as indicated by the myth of Inanna for this part of the Venus cycle. If you have natal planets around 10-11 degrees of Cancer or 19 degrees of Gemini, these dates could be particularly telling of a greater story at play. In any case, take note of your dreams, thoughts and reflections at this time and let me know if you see any correlations in your life between these two moments in time. More on the Venus Moon conjunction at my 2nd Venus Moon Gate article.
WEEK THREE
Saturn square Uranus
The third week will see the second of three squares between Saturn and Uranus on the 15th June – signaling the clash between conservatism and idealism. I published an article about this major theme for 2021 back in February, which you can revisit. In context of June 2021, we may experience the dismantling nature of this aspect in a much more intensified way because of its proximity to the solar eclipse. However, as we’ve already experienced the first instance of this aspect in mid February 2021, we’re likely to be aware of this issue already. It could be the case of feeling extreme frustration or restlessness at this long standing issue and feeling a strong impulse to make tangible changes now, despite the disruption this could cause.
As mentioned in my previous article, this aspect will favour those who are more flexible in their nature to take on change. The changes that this aspect is seeking are long-standing ones that may be ingrained into our existence. However, using this transit can help us to break habits that have been hard to manage for a long time. Other significations of this aspect could point to rebellions, revolutions, uprisings, systemic changes, sudden acts by crazed individuals, mania, subculture movements, extremists, ostracism, hype, novelty, shocks, taboos, exposes, natural disasters, earthquakes, landslides and technological advancements including aeronautical and space travel. This is another aspect to watch for nervous system issues as it has a rather restless and anxiety-inducing energy. Take care of your bodies and minds everyone!
WEEK FOUR
Solstice – Jupiter stations retrograde and Venus trines Neptune
This year’s solstice will hold the important space where Jupiter stops completely and starts to turn the opposite way, from earth’s perspective. Jupiter rules our beliefs, truths, perceptions, understandings, moral judgements and our need for meaning. When Jupiter slows to a halt (felt a week either side of the solstice), we’re likely to experience a strong concentration of all these topics playing out in our life. You may feel called to dive deeper at this time to seek more meaning and purpose around what your life entails. At the same time, Venus will also trine Neptune, influencing us to explore our creativity, visions and imagination to support Jupiter’s descent into our inner worlds where it can recalibrate our outer world successes with our inner orientation. This descent could be the case of reviewing some of your previous judgments about life and realising that there could be another perspective that you could benefit from seeing. A good strategy for this time is to be open minded and to let go of self-righteousness or arrogance.
We could see this solstice being one of the last celebrations before we go back into our shells to hibernate over winter for those in the south or retreat from the external heat for those in the north. Use this time to expand internally, rather than seeking growth from external sources. Those with Jupiter as a timelord will feel this retrograde station strongly, signaling a temporary reversal of your current life situation.
Mercury stations direct and Sun trines Jupiter
Two days later on the 23rd June, Mercury will switch directions and slowly move forward again. From this point, we will start to see momentum building, especially around projects commenced at the Mercury Cazimi on the 11th June. Those with Mercury as a timelord may feel this forward momentum play out as a turnaround of events. The Sun’s trine with the retrograde Jupiter could potentially reveal a greater understanding of our inner purpose, sparking a sense of abundance and gratitude from the richness of our inner realm.
Venus opposite Pluto
As one of the last major aspects of June, Venus will oppose Pluto in Capricorn on the 24th June highlighting the polarity between our desires for emotional connectedness and the power dynamics played out within relationships. The idea of co-dependency, complex relational bonds and control issues are likely to emerge with this aspect. This comes as we are about to experience the Full Moon in Capricorn on the 25th June, bringing heightened awareness of our personal boundaries and obligations within our relationships. We could see our passions flared this week as we become sensitive to those around us, especially within intimate spaces where wounds are raw and vulnerable. It may be wise to follow the ways of the Venus Evening Star qualities – to retract and stand in strong inner resilience as we hold compassion for ourselves and others. Seeking outward expression of your raw passions could lead to some emotional explosions or a an icy cold shoulder treatment from a loved one.
