The New Moon in Pisces (11 Mar) that starts this week has a subtle but distinct new sentiment. While the past few weeks have been characterised by a more intense and busy pace, the next couple of weeks has a softer tone which could be a welcome feeling for you.
That being said, we’re at the tail end of the astrological new year being a week before the Aries Ingress or Autumn Equinox which seems anything but new.
However, this New Moon pre-empts a big shift for the Pisces region of your chart because it’s the beginning of a lunation cycle that peaks at the first Partial Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces in September 2024. This can only suggest that there will be big changes afoot for your Pisces / Virgo axis of your chart which will be revealed to you in six months time. But the seed for these changes will be planted this week so use this New Moon to feel into the new possibilities and shifts that might be headed towards your path.
Meanwhile, you may sense a kind of opening up to a new awareness of something this week. This ‘something’ might be of the nature of the two fishes within you tethered together and swimming in opposite directions, symboling dualism and the shattering of single-minded certainty. New directions, opposing possibilities and your openness to exploring different options will be called on for this New Moon in Pisces. The Piscean fishes are pulling you in two directions and your projected path could now look like several new options. It’s an opportunity to expand your reality beyond what you know which could be inspiring on one hand, and ungrounding on the other. Aspirations could be seeding during this lunation, yet there’s also the realisation that inconvenient change is also required to attain these dreams. You’ll be encouraged to surrender at some level and lean into your imaginative and creative abilities in order to prepare yourself for new beginnings. The Full Moon Eclipse in Pisces in September will illuminate what these current inklings will lead to. Watch this space.
The energies this week are a more welcome shift compared to previous weeks as the benefic planets create more harmony for all of us. Venus will enter her exalted sign of Pisces (11 March) and come into a mutual sign-based exchange with Jupiter in Taurus. You may feel a little bit more integrated at this change especially if the past few weeks have been a little manic. Venus in Pisces is always a great advocate for stopping to notice the beauty surrounding you, and appreciating the sacredness of every moment. You might still have an ever growing task list and endless chores to attend to but with Jupiter at Venus’ wings, you are likely to view them with greater positivity, hope and optimism.
Meanwhile, the Moon will also enter her exaltation sign of Taurus this week (between 13-15 March) which is a comfortable and nourishing time to look forward to as you might allow yourself to slow down and enjoy life a little. Give yourself permission to indulge in something that’s been missing in life due to the stress and pressure of everyday busyness. Pampering and self care comes in many forms depending on your life situation but make sure you think about how you can give yourself some conscious loving attention during this time.
In particular, the 13th March is a particularly great time for ‘the acquisition of all good things’ as suggested in the Picatrix’s description of the Third Lunar Mansion which this Moon placement falls into. If you’re looking for a little boost from the cosmos, this day could be one to capitalise on so make the most of it!
Excerpt from Picatrix (Warnock & Greer translation):
The third Mansion is Azoraye (that is, the Pleiades) and is for the acquisition of all good things. Make the figure of a seated woman with her right hand over her head, and wrap it in cloth, suffumigate it with musk, camphor, mastic and aromatic oils. Say: “You, Annuncia, make it so.” Make the image in a silver ring with a square table, and put it upon your finger and it will be as you wish. Know that Annuncia is the name of the lord of this mansion.”
