Quote of the week

Chaos was the law of nature; Order was the dream of man.

Henry Adams

things to do this week
  • Things could get a little cold – try not to take it personally

  • Extend your objective, rational mind to help in your decisions and assessments in life

  • Be open to new ideas and opportunities, no matter how crazy they appear

  • Support the higher need for mental stimulation in yourself and others, especially children and teens – technological resources could be an option

  • Watch out for pranks, surprises and disruptions as the cosmic tricksters align

  • Resist the temptation to solely focus on details – efficiencies can also be gained by giving in to chaos and surprises

  • Changes in your plans may come about, especially if you’ve reach the outermost limits to a situation – stay flexible

Date: 14 March – 20 March 2022

The beginning of the week starts with a little coldness, especially from loved ones. We see the Moon oppose Venus on Monday, which is a passionate and sweet connection but it quickly shifts to a colder, aloof and separative quality by the next day when the Moon squares Uranus, then opposes Saturn. The cold and dry nature of Saturn can make the Moon feel completely isolated, unloved and unacknowledged.  Remember that this is a fleeting transit and it’s ok if you feel you need to wallow for the day. Try not to take the coldness of others too personally. It could be helpful to spend these couple of days on your own, especially if you’re sensitive to other people’s energies. However, the detachment of Uranus, combined with the pragmatism of Saturn could make the beginning of this week useful if you need to exercise some objectivity. So if you’ve felt too emotionally tied into a particular issue lately, this configuration could help you see it from a more rational perspective.

Most of the action happens at the later half of this week, when a Mercury Uranus sextile on 17 March activates the mind with innovative breakthroughs, intuitive insights, crazy ideas and thrill-seeking thoughts. It’s a great energy to play with if you’re seeking to do something different, indulge in some inventive flair or try something new.

This transit needs stimulation so you could find your tolerance for boredom decrease if you haven’t got something inspiring to occupy your mind with. In particular, if you have teenagers / tweens or are a school teacher, there could be a good pairing of technology and creativity (as Mercury is in Pisces) to combat the boredom that could lead to rebellious behaviour. You’ll need to think of something outside of the regular routine to stimulate the kids this week.

While Uranus is usually disruptive and unexpected in nature, the softer sextile aspect with Mercury is likely to manifest as happy surprises, rather than chaotic interruptions. With Mercury the cosmic tricker playing with the Uranus the rebel, there’s every possibility of some low level antics playing out to keep life interesting especially to do with technology, messages, movement, travel, teenagers, siblings, meetings, transactions and fraud. This is especially so with the Full Moon in Virgo the following day which is ruled by Mercury, who will illuminate this sextile with Uranus to our attention. Be on the lookout for the trickster this week and consider the broader opportunities that can be gained when you’re disrupted from your routine.

Of all the signs, we don’t really get the best out of Mercury when it’s in Pisces. Here, it loses its rational faculties, clarity, agility and integrity. So when a debilitated Mercury rules the Full Moon, it’s saying that things could go a bit pear shaped, according to what’s typically rational. You’ll be called to meander a little more than usual if you’re planning to stay sane but this will be challenging with the Moon in Virgo who likes straight lines. Further, with the Mercury Uranus sextile pushing the boundaries of what’s typical, your nervous system will be much better off letting a few little details go this week. A little bit of chaos in small doses can lead to a great creative force. In Greek philosophy, Chaos was the great void from which the beginnings of the ordered Cosmos emerged. Look at your Virgo/Pisces house polarities in your natal chart to see where your chaos and order are situated.

The Sun’s sextile with Pluto after the Full Moon can show an underlying compulsiveness or a need-to-be-in-control feeling, following the lunation that’s calling for us to go with the flow. Even though this is a smaller aspect, it can’t be ignored completely. I would suggest finding an area of life where you can feel like you’re in control. Look to 28 degrees Capricorn in your natal chart to see where you can exercise some power and control, and limit it to this area only.

Venus will also square Uranus after the Full Moon, emphasising the unconventional, disruptive, innovative and potentially liberating sentiments of the week. Venus will also make the Maximum Morning Elongation the day after, signifying a turnaround of events or a change in direction, as though you’ve reached the outermost limits of a situation. The maximum distance between Venus and the Sun, mimics the maximum elongation of the Moon with the Sun, otherwise known as the Full Moon. These two similar phenomena show the realisations that can occur once we gain a broader perspective. Perhaps we need the disruption of Uranus this week to help us move out of the peripheral vision zone and into full view.

To sum up this week, I believe there will be a fine line between order and chaos. No matter how hard we try to engineer our lives to maintain order, we may be met with equally disruptive situations that threaten to throw us into chaos. Being open-minded to new perspectives and accepting changes in your course will help you walk this fine line with grace and greater liberation.

Oh great…. fun with unpredictable Uranus, a nit-picky Moon and a Mercury who has a hangover! At least we have Venus jogging in front of Mars keeping him busy wondering how she got past him! Mars and Uranus scare me more than Mr. Saturn! Thank you Shu! I love, and look forward to, these quotes and weekly installments and all your intellectual insights.

Thanks Jodie, and yes, Mars and Uranus are quite unpredictable. At least you know what you’re gonna get with Saturn!
