By the end of the week, Venus will square Uranus (2 Jul) in the first of three events that will unfold over the Venus Retrograde period and initiate the beginning of an important story line that will be with you until the end of September.
If you haven’t caught up with my 2023 Venus Retrograde lecture on my YouTube channel that I gave at Ishtarfest this year, I talk about this week as an important observation week to see what this three-month theme might look like for you. This slide encapsulates some ideas around the Venus Uranus square, which will activate this week, as well as 9 August and 23 September.

Interestingly, Mars makes the same square with Uranus (26 Jun) at the beginning of this week, giving you an explosive start to this three-month theme. As both Mars and Venus generally signify the male and female archetypes and the duality of human nature, it’s quite possible that important relationship situations might emerge during this week. It could start with the explosive and volatile nature of Mars, and end with the reconciliation of Venus. It may be hot-headed, active or passionate events leading to more passivity, gentleness and sensuality. Whatever it might look like, it’s important for you to understand that events this week are just the beginning of a longer story and that ultimately, the main objective is to bring down the authenticity, freedom and individuality of Uranus within your earthly existence.
In more immediate cases though, the Mars Uranus square is quite volatile so you may find a surge of energy to advocate or stand up for what you believe. As an extreme example, a lot of the pandemic protests for freedom and civil liberties occurred during a Mars Uranus square. It might also pay to take more precautions on these couple of days as impulsiveness could lead to sudden accidents or mistakes. Mars in Leo may let your pride get in the way.
And for the Venus Uranus square, the more immediate effect might see you becoming more detached in your emotional state which can allow you to see more objectively within a situation. Creatively, this is also a great aspect that can force new directions that might not have been apparent before. So, look out for opportunities of great reframes this week.
There’s a lot happening with Mercury this week, as the planet of travel and communication aligns with the Sun for their Superior Mercury Cazimi (1 Jul) just after Mercury ingresses into Cancer (27 Jun), bringing an emotional and sentimental feel from this nurturing water sign. Expect insights on the family and home area as you pay attention to jobs around the house or garden and bringing your tribe together. Insights may also come to you about your ancestry and personal history. This Mercury Cazimi day could be a great opportunity to connect with your elders of blood or land and even lineage holders of your areas of study.
Mercury’s trine to Saturn (30 Jun) before the Cazimi and sextile to Jupiter (1 Jul) after the Cazimi reinforces the importance of family and history this week. The importance of acknowledging your foundations and adversities of the past, as a process of stepping into future aspirations may come to you this week. This Mercury Cazimi will show you that your luck and success is dependent on your ability to overcome obstacles. It will bring you insights about how you can build better processes and structures in your life as a result.
Lastly. the Neptune Retrograde (30 Jun) continues the deep, watery theme this week where emotions and your inner worlds take priority. The oceans and waters may feature strongly either in physical form like a pull to be closer to the sea or high levels of rain or moisture, or, in archetypal form, like an invitation to step into mystery, emotional explorations and other worlds.
In the astrological world, there have been many discussions about how the current sky weather has reflected the implosion of the Titan sub. This tragic event happens right in the zone of a…
- Neptune Retrograde – themes of oceans, mysteries and negligence
- Saturn Retrograde – themes of endings, deaths and hardships, as well as the quality of heaviness – Saturn rules lead, the material used to make sinkers for fishing
- Mercury setting into the beams of the Sun – planet of travel and communications being in a debilitated condition of combustion with the Sun. Perhaps this week’s Mercury Cazimi in Cancer may help to find the missing persons that may reunite families with their bodies
- Jupiter Saturn sextile – themes of the old interfacing with the new just as this exploration used new technologies to explore a historical event in the ocean
