Interpsycle Observator: Uranus in Gemini – Risk, Adventure, Progress or Growth?

by | Jun 26, 2025 | Interpsycle Observator | 2 comments

Expect July to be another month of surprises and unexpected events as the planet Uranus moves into its new home of Gemini on 7 July 2025. At one level, this shift could bring exciting new perspectives that might propel you beyond your limits. It brings fresh air to tired spaces and young blood into an ageing system.

However, the shift of Uranus from the stable earth sign of Taurus into the hyperactive mental sign of Gemini will be strongly felt. In Gemini, Uranus can be both brilliant and discordant at the same time. The status quo could be shocked out of its routine. ‘Normal’ may no longer exist. Your nervous system will most certainly feel the ripples of change—so if you’re feeling a bit unsettled, this could be why.

Getting the Trickster on Your Side

Similar to Mercury, Uranus is another trickster archetype. It’s often associated with the Prometheus principle—where the outcast Titan devised a clever plan to steal fire from the gods and share it with mortals, for whom he felt pity. Was this an act of charity and compassion? Or was Prometheus a deviant saboteur of the ordered system?

Uranus teaches us that things may not always be what they seem, especially if our perception is clouded by thick narratives and conditioning. It offers different perspectives—but often through disruption and breakdown.

How is the Trickster shaking things up for you?

It’s important to begin embracing new ways of doing things, starting with the area of life ruled by Gemini. For example, Gemini rules my 5th house of children, and currently, they’re starting to move through the cusp of their teenage years. This suggests that I’ll need to change my parenting style to accommodate growing explorations of independence, defiance, and individuation.

If you’d like to explore where Uranus will be activating in your natal chart for the next 7 years, book your astrological consultation here.

This month is about making friends with Uranus. Like a rebellious teenager, Uranus requires you to adapt your ways to keep him engaged and on your side. Be cool—but know when to intervene. Give plenty of space—but know when to offer attention. Above all, stay open to new possibilities and sudden pivots.

Technological Activations

Gemini’s technological focus will no doubt drive further advancements in AI, space travel, transport, and communication over Uranus’s 13-year transit through this sign. It’s likely that Uranus will stimulate these areas with both disruption and innovation. Media is likely to be revolutionised from the way it currently operates, and propaganda could also proliferate rapidly. The issue of free speech may rise to a head.

Example: Axiom Mission 4 – the first government-sponsored spaceflight in over 40 years for India, Poland, and Hungary

As I write this article, the Axiom 4 space mission has just launched, co-piloted by India’s first astronaut to head into space in 41 years—that’s half a Uranus cycle ago! Indian astronaut Shubanshu Shukla said: “This is not just the beginning of my space station, but the beginning of India’s human space era.”

Shukla’s statement perfectly reflects the new era of Uranus in Gemini—a sign which rules travel, movement, technology, connection, and communication. Is this the beginning of routine space travel for everyday commuters? With Uranus and Gemini at the helm, this is quite plausible.

But what struck me as an even greater representation of Uranus was the image of Shubanshu Shukla’s parents as the rocket launched. Notice the exhilaration on his father’s face, contrasted with the tearful stress of his mother. We might all wear these same expressions ourselves when we encounter Uranus when it has a direct encounter with something in our natal chart placements.

Unprecedented Times

Uranus is the fourth slow-moving planet to enter a new sign this year, following Neptune, Saturn, and Jupiter. These outer planets each spend between 1 and 14 years in a sign, so it’s extremely rare for all of them to shift signs within a four-month period. As such, we are living through unprecedented times—marked by change, new regimes, and a significant reset.

Retrogrades of July 2025

Uranus’s ingress into Gemini is contrasted by a cluster of retrogrades that may slow momentum and create a frustrating sense of push and pull—more intense than what we usually expect during retrograde periods.

Three retrogrades occur in July, with Mercury, Neptune, and Saturn all moving backwards in zodiacal degrees. Uranus’s shocks are emphasised by the retrogrades’ twists and turns of fate. An open mind and a willingness to navigate unfamiliar territory will be essential.

Mercury Retrograde: 18 July 2025, 15°34′ Leo

There’s nothing particularly standout about Mercury’s retrograde on 18 July, although our Leo friends may feel it most, as Mercury stations retrograde in this fixed sign. When swift and adaptable Mercury changes direction in proud, resolute Leo, you may face the challenge of balancing flexibility with stubbornness. Your willingness to explore new avenues might meet strong resistance, inertia, and stalemates. Progress could feel frustratingly slow—especially with Saturn also stationing retrograde five days earlier.

Saturn Retrograde: 13 July 2025, 01°56′ Aries & Neptune Retrograde: 05 July 2025, 02°10′ Aries

Both Neptune and Saturn’s retrogrades are worth close attention, especially in the house where Aries resides in your natal chart. This will be the first time Neptune and Saturn backtrack since entering Aries in March and May respectively. Neptune stations retrograde on 5 July, bringing with it feelings of disorientation, disappointment, disillusionment, and confusion. A week later, Saturn turns retrograde on 13 July, adding melancholy, stagnation, obstacles, and obligations to the mix.

These two stations in the first half of July could make for a confusing time, where decisions and ideas won’t flow easily. It’s a poor time for major decisions or commitments, as the retrograde energy suggests you might change your mind later anyway.

With all this decision paralysis, it may be wise to sit back and observe what unfolds for now. As this is the first time Saturn and Neptune turn retrograde in Aries, it may signify the ‘first hurdle’ of their transit through this sign. For Saturn, that journey lasts until 2029; Neptune stays until 2049. This month begins the initiation of their Aries journey, and if you consciously tune in, you might receive insights into what they are asking of you in that part of your chart.

Thank you Shu. I love your forecasts, happy to read this one. I am a late degrees Scorpio rising and I have Venus at 0 Sagittarius (among many planets in Sag), so it was interesting to read about how to make friends with Uranus. Definitely it has been intense on my descendant and now the opposition to Venus. I hope it will get me unstuck in a positive way! Major decisions have to be taken though, maybe postponed to August, I hope it’s ok anyway despite what you suggested. Have a great month!
