Interpsycle Observator: May 2025 – Saturn in Aries

by | May 1, 2025 | Interpsycle Observator | 2 comments

On 24th May 2025, Saturn will move into Aries, establishing a major shift in world affairs and personal endeavours. The last time Saturn moved into Aries was in 1996 and it spent approximately two years there. This year, Saturn will spend around four months in Aries, after which it will return to Pisces for one last time. Now is the time to preview this upcoming new phase being activated in your life because these themes will be a permanent feature for you from February 2026 until April 2028. Your house of Aries in your natal chart will indicate which areas might need this attention. Book a reading to discover what this could mean for you, and get a comprehensive outlook for your year ahead.

For Saturn, the shift into Aries comes with some major adjustments that you might need to implement. Instability is a key feature of Saturn in Aries as your known structures might present some urgent requirements of renewed focus. This might require you to think outside the box as you’re likely to have to do the opposite of what you have intended to do. In this way, an intrinsic shift in motivation, in the midst of external adversities around your foundations, could be felt this month. You’re entering into new territory which might be rocking your sense of reality. But, at the same time, the pressures brought on by this shift could force a necessary change towards a better situation.

Mid-90s Saturn in Aries

The mid-90s was an era of raw and experimental styles where grit met glamour while harsh aesthetics and lifestyle choices gave an enviable edge to society. For Saturn, Aries is a harsh and sinister place, so it makes sense that the starving waif look and the deliberately dishevelled grunge styles were popular.  On the other hand, Saturn is exalted in Libra, where refinement, conservatism and high quality are treasured trends. But when Saturn moves into the opposite sign of Aries, the consensus is likely to go against all the conventional social and cultural norms that Libra represents.

The mid-90s was also the boundary between the pre-internet world and the fully globalised and digitised space we live in today. Back then, authenticity rather than algorithms were the normal ways to achieve credibility. People still talked face-to-face and made plans to meet up, and turn up on time, without the safety net of mobile phones. I set up my first email address back then – a hotmail account which I still use today, except that it is so full (mainly spam) that I have been forced last week to walk away from this ancient communication channel. Therefore, my hotmail email address has died a Saturn Return death. Likewise, something you started back in 1996-1998 could be coming to a close or serious re-evaluation right now.

Another pivotal memory I have of the mid-90s was the murder of Tupac Shakur and 6-months later, the murder of Notorious B.I.G., tainting the ‘golden age’ of hip hop with the darker facets of the music industry. Not only did these murders segregate the east-west cultures into war, but the essence of community-driven and socially-conscious lyrics transcended down into gangsta rap, bling culture and hyper-masculinity after this time. Both Tupac and ‘Biggie’ were murdered when Saturn entered Aries. Saturn had moved over Tupac’s natal Moon only about a month earlier. Both were born with Chiron in Aries too, a symbol of the masculine wound which they both carried for the masses, sadly as victims rather than the victorious. And as Saturn is revisiting Aries again in 2025, a trial is planned to take place this year with the man charged for orchestrating Tupac’s murder. And in true Saturn style, this trial has been delayed.

Beyond fashion trends and pop-tech culture

The harshness and austerity of Saturn in Aries is likely going to be reflected in other areas of society, culture and geopolitics. Currently, our modern world is undergoing rapid governmental reorganisation with political tensions running extremely high. The stock market has crashed, cost of living at record highs and the shortage of goods showing the detrimental impacts of globalisation gone wrong.

When Saturn enters a sign of Mars (of which Aries is one) it will bring difficulty, slowness, cowardice, worry and sorrows (Abu Mashar, Persian Nativities IV, Chapter VIII.1). Saturn in Aries is also considered to be in a condition called ‘fallen’ which will extract the most debased and impure qualities of Saturn, so we could really see the lack mentality, rigidity and severity of Saturn showing its face in these times. Given that Mars and Aries are known for their heat and fire quality, its relationship with cold and dry Saturn makes this an intensely inimical one. To this, it can be described as a relationship made of “water and oil, which are mixed but not blended.” (The Astrology of Saul B. Bishr Vol 1, The Fifty Aphorisms)

A strategy to navigate Saturn in Aries

Perhaps Saul’s analogy of water and oil could offer us some insights into how we might navigate these times of Saturn in Aries. The consistent theme Saturn and Mars share is separation. Both like to do things alone, without interruption. Being on their solo journeys is best for all involved as it avoids arguments, resentments and entanglements. So think about how you can embrace the qualities of independence, self sufficiency and autonomy in your everyday life. How can you grow your relationships by becoming more self-reliant? As social creatures, separateness can often have a negative connotation. But what if you reframe the word separation with that of ‘spaciousness’ or ‘Akash’ – one of the five elements of Vedic philosophy – which, through spaciousness, allows for everything to exist harmoniously together.

Agitation and violent shaking is required for water and oil to mix. But it doesn’t take long for the two substances to return to their own levels. There’s no doubt that Saturn in Aries will create times of violent agitation and you might feel the internal shakeups happening often during this period of time, especially when there’s a mixing of people, opinions, priorities, values and agendas. But knowing that there’s a swift path back to spaciousness and calmness might be the hidden strategy to maintaining your own sense of internal stability. In this way, Saturn in Aries would be a great time to plan your escape routes, work on contingencies and prepare for risk mitigation in whatever areas of life you feel this is required. The fallen nature of Saturn could imply that this is a time to keep a low profile, or to do the inner work required to overcome any adversities.

Saturn Return readings for those born 1996-1998

Those born with Saturn in Aries could relate to the kind of hardships that life has dealt them, whether through external events or within themselves. Through cruelty, brutality and hardships, Saturn in Aries will develop a hard-nosed resilience and a penchant for the underdogs to whom they have a soft spot for. Those born in 1996-1998 with the last Saturn in Aries will soon be undergoing their first Saturn Return – an awakening into the adult phase of life; from maiden to mother; boyhood to manhood. This formative time will be one to look back on as a time where your inner resilience was discovered or reached new depths. If this is you, it’s a powerful time to get some astrological advice to help you navigate your Saturn Return which will be in full force in 2026 – 2028. Don’t miss out on some limited Saturn Return readings available on my site.

More importantly, the ingress of a slow moving planet into a new sign is something that should be welcomed, not feared. Every shift into new territory offers us insights for self contemplation and personal progression. It’s a reminder of an evolutionary process taking place, which might seem stagnantly slow when we wade through the daily grind of living. But big ingresses such as Saturn moving into Aries reminds us to expand our consciousness to larger cycles of consciousness that are undergoing constant change, implicating us into the greater rhythm of the cosmos. Travel well my friends!
