March 2025: Eclipses, Retrogrades and Revelations

by | Mar 1, 2025 | Interpsycle Observator | 1 comment

March arrives as one of the most eventful months of the year, stirring your inner world into a powerful journey of self-discovery. This is a time when darker themes emerge—not to haunt you, but to heal, even if the process feels hellish at times. Subconscious patterns, repressed emotions, and long-buried shadows rise to the surface, asking for recognition and release. The energy of this month urges you to slow down, reflect, and confront the hidden sides of your behavior with courage and honesty.

On a personal level, March offers fertile ground for growth, inviting you to explore the delicate interplay between your material reality, mental narratives, and soul’s purpose. This is a month to embrace truth—especially the truths you’ve avoided. As revelations unfold, you’re being challenged to shift your perception around difficult realisations. Can you transform them into personal assets that empower you toward a healthier, more authentic life? The choice lies in your willingness to face discomfort and lean into change.

No one will be untouched by this energy, but certain signs will feel its intensity more profoundly. If any of the following signs correspond to your Ascendant, Sun, or Moon, you’ll experience these influences on a deeper level:

  • Aries: Life may feel like a never-ending quest, pulling your attention in multiple directions. Expect a fast-paced, active period filled with both opportunities and challenges that test your resilience and patience. Be mindful of your body and mental well-being, as burnout is a real risk if you push yourself too hard.
  • Pisces: Deep work unfolds around finances and possessions. You might find yourself reevaluating career choices, especially as shifting health priorities or aging concerns reshape your long-term goals. New realities are forming—be open to possibilities, no matter how absurd they seem at first glance.
  • Virgo: There’s an urge to detach from draining entanglements and purify your life. Solitude will be your sanctuary as you restore your personal resources and refine your health practices. The best antidote to feeling out of control is to focus on your spiritual path and reconnect with what truly sustains you.
  • Taurus: Balancing outward responsibilities with an increasing need for solitude may feel burdensome. Prioritize self-care and stay mindful of what truly fulfills you, as it’s easy to fall into complacency or self-sabotage. Don’t hesitate to step back or seek support when needed.
  • Libra: Maintaining harmony in relationships could feel like hard work. Honest conversations and reassessing the balance of give-and-take will be essential. If you struggle to release certain responsibilities, ask yourself whether they genuinely serve others or simply feed your need for control. Your body will thank you for lightening the load.
  • Gemini: Long-held plans and aspirations may come into question as your priorities and sense of purpose undergo a significant shift. Lean into your natural adaptability rather than resisting change. It’s also worth reconsidering whether your current communities and social circles still align with your evolving values.

Ultimately, March acts as a mirror, reflecting the truth of where you are and where growth is calling you. For those seeking a deeper astrological understanding, here are the major configurations shaping the month’s energy:

Venus Retrograde: March 2nd – Approx. 40 Days

Venus Retrograde is one of the most potent astrological phases, occurring only once every 18 months and lasting for approximately 40 days. Unlike the frequent retrogrades of Jupiter,  Saturn, or the outer planets, Venus’s reversal holds a unique intensity, offering a rare opportunity to engage with the deepest layers of your emotions, values, and relationships.

During this phase of the dark feminine, the energy shifts inward, urging you to explore the less-frequented corners of your psyche—the places often avoided out of discomfort, guilt, or shame. This is a time of shadow work, when you’re invited to confront the parts of yourself that have been repressed, forgotten, or labeled as “taboo.” The true beauty of Venus Retrograde lies in its ability to expose these shadows—not to punish you, but to liberate you through awareness and self-acceptance.

You’ll start noticing things you don’t like—whether in others, your surroundings, or even your own preferences and sensory experiences. The focus turns to the hidden and uncomfortable, sometimes leading to tension, breakups, or conflicts. These challenges aren’t random; they’re reflections, revealing the very traits you most resist within yourself.

If you can move beyond the immediate dramas, Venus Retrograde reveals a profound lesson: what you reject externally often mirrors what you’re avoiding internally. It’s an invitation to reframe conflict, confrontation, and disillusionment as gifts of insight—opportunities to reclaim disowned parts of yourself and step into greater wholeness.

This retrograde often highlights themes around relationships, finances, personal values, fertility, and sexuality. While it can be emotionally intense, the true magic lies in transforming inner discord into self-love, acceptance, and a more authentic relationship with yourself and others. Interestingly, this phase also mirrors significant moments from your past, particularly those tied to related points on the Venus cycle. Look back exactly eight years, and you’ll likely notice striking similarities in the themes you faced then and now. Even past lovers, friendships, or unresolved situations from that era may resurface—often briefly—to nudge you towards your evolution.

Therefore, embrace this sacred pause. Venus Retrograde offers a rare cosmic window to realign with what truly matters, shedding old patterns and embracing a more integrated sense of self. The journey may not always be comfortable, but the clarity and empowerment it offers are well worth the inner work.

Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo: March 13th

Following the Venus Retrograde phase, the Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo is yet another gift of the shadow, presenting insights for your personal growth. As a South Node eclipse, it acts as a cosmic clearing, burning away what no longer serves your evolution. This is not a time for outward expansion, new ventures, or major decisions. Any effort to build externally may feel futile, as the universe redirects your attention toward inner purification and self-realignment.

Virgo’s meticulous energy amplifies the need to clean, organize, and simplify—not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. With the Sun closely aligned with Saturn, this eclipse takes on a disciplinarian tone, pushing you to embrace solitude, structure, and focused effort. The best way to navigate this period is by decluttering your inner and outer world, creating space for clarity and insight to emerge. Resist the temptation to engage with distractions, drama, or material concerns, as doing so could compromise your well-being and future opportunities.

During this eclipse, you might experience headaches, anxiety, mental overload, or intrusive thoughts—clear signals that your mind and body need rest and recalibration. Retreat to your home space and engage in practices like spring cleaning, fasting, detoxing, and organizing. Make the act of shedding a priority—whether it’s outdated beliefs, emotional baggage, or physical clutter.

Mercury, as the ruler of Virgo, turns retrograde just one day after this eclipse, heightening the sense of walking a fine line between order and chaos. This is your challenge: to find balance by integrating both. The release of outdated structures creates space for newfound clarity and self-awareness. Rather than striving to control outcomes, lean into the process of letting go, trusting that what falls away was never truly essential to your journey.

Set aside time on the eclipse day to sit in quiet contemplation. If you can get to the stillness of the eclipse vortex, you’ll find everything you need for the road ahead.

Solar Partial Eclipse in Aries: March 28th

Two weeks after the Total Lunar Eclipse, you’ll experience the final Aries eclipse for another 8.5 years, marking the closure of an important cycle that began in April 2023. This eclipse, along the Libra-Aries axis, highlights themes of truth, authenticity, and selfhood—particularly in relationships. It’s an opportune time to reflect on how far you’ve come in asserting your needs and embracing your individuality.

Thematically, this eclipse cycle has coincided with Chiron’s transit through Aries, accelerating your healing around Self and Ego. Since 2018, Chiron in Aries has fast-tracked the healing of the masculine principle, encouraging vulnerability and compassion where rigidity and egoic compensations once stood. This eclipse marks the final time an Aries eclipse will coincide with Chiron in this sign for decades, symbolising the closure of a significant chapter in your personal and collective healing journey.

While the Solar Eclipse in Aries isn’t as intense as the Lunar Eclipse earlier in the month—partly because it’s only a partial eclipse—it still carries the confronting, transformative energy common to all eclipses. This is not a time for new ventures, major decisions, or high-energy pursuits. Instead, honor the eclipse by meditating, retracting from external life, purifying your space, and maintaining strong energetic boundaries.

This eclipse could stir up restlessness and impulsivity, making it difficult for you to slow down and think things through. You might find yourself rushing from task to task, driven by an urgency that prioritises movement over meaningful progress. This haste can lead to carelessness, increasing the risk of minor accidents or frustrating mishaps. There’s a strong need to ground yourself. You’ll benefit from consciously pausing, breathing deeply, and choosing your battles wisely.

Emotionally, the eclipse might heighten anxiety and worry, particularly if you’re chasing fulfillment that always seems just out of reach. Aries’ bold energy, amplified by the North Node’s hunger for growth, can fuel a “never enough” mentality, prompting overconsumption—whether of material things, experiences, or information. This restless desire could also leave you vulnerable to trickery or deception, especially if you’re making decisions hastily. Slow down, question your impulses, and stay anchored in what truly matters, rather than getting swept away by fleeting desires.

Mercury Retrograde: March 14th – Approx. 21 days

Mercury’s retrograde journey begins in Aries, reverses into Pisces, and then returns to Aries, over a three-week period. With Mercury stationing retrograde just a day after the Virgo eclipse—a sign Mercury rules—this retrograde will deepen the retractive, isolating energy of the month. It’s less about external progress and more about revisiting old narratives, with the past echoing into the present in unexpected ways.

You may find yourself reflecting on pivotal life stages, with moments of clarity connecting past choices to current circumstances. This retrograde could lead you on a search—whether metaphorical, like seeking closure or understanding, or literal, like looking for a lost item or retracing steps. Answers may not come easily, especially as Mercury moves back into Pisces, blurring communication and making it harder to distinguish between intuition and illusion. However, embracing the dreamy, introspective qualities of Pisces can offer profound insight. Pay close attention to your dreams and subconscious impressions, as this is the realm Mercury is guiding you toward—a space where hidden elements of your search may surface, revealing truths not easily found in the waking world.

On a practical level, technological challenges are likely, especially those related to heat or fire—think overheating devices, system crashes, or travel disruptions due to fire or heat related issues. This is not a time to operate on autopilot. Double-check everything, from travel plans to important documents. Trusting blindly could lead to setbacks, so approach everything with a discerning eye and a patient mindset. Ultimately, Mercury Retrograde reminds you that real progress happens when you slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters.
