Transit dates

All dates are stated in Universal Time (UT 0:00hrs). Please adjust for your timezone.

  • 23 Dec   Third Quarter Moon in Virgo
  • 25 Dec   Jupiter square Saturn
  • 27 Dec   Mercury opposite Jupiter
  • 27 Dec   Mercury square Saturn
  • 28 Dec   Venus square Uranus

Remember back in mid-November, I mentioned that Mercury was going on a two month journey with Saturn and Jupiter. That journey is now ending and it’s good to go back and pull out a couple of paragraphs that I wrote in anticipation of the Jupiter-Saturn-Mercury configuration that’s finalising this week (25-27 Dec).

On the Mercury Saturn square 13 Nov

“…you must forego the amusements and focus on the details of the dry topics, despite the lack of motivation to do so. Carelessness or negligence could be an issue. Remember that this aspect is here to stay for a couple of months so if you think you might have escaped the severity of this tension this time around, it’s likely the consequences will return in December. Likewise, if you can tackle the tasks of this transit this week, it might hold you in good stead throughout December as you complete those tasks.”

On the Jupiter Mercury opposition 18 Nov

“There’s a lot of thinking, rationalising and agonising about new structures in your life during the November/December period. On one hand, there’s a lot of excitement and hope in creating something of tangible value, yet at the same time, significant pivots and crossroads need to be navigated which could cause anxieties and fears to creep in. November/December is a time to test something out, for you’ll never know if you never get past the scribble pad of ideas. It calls for action but be prepared for crisis, hard work, decision-making and problem-solving.”

Reflecting back, I hope you’ve been able to put in some hard work towards building a bright and hopeful vision of your future. Things could feel as though you’re starting to see the first signs of success in your adventures through life, whether that’s related to work, family, home or studies. It’s likely that since mid-November, there could have been significant pivots involved in your journey to get you to where you are today.

Now, as the second Jupiter Saturn square aligns (25 Dec), your ideas and visions are starting to take a more tangible form. Things are starting to feel very real, and that’s pretty exciting indeed. But, there’s still a long way to go. The final package will be decided next year when the last Jupiter Saturn square perfects in their new signs on 15 June 2025. While this week could give you a more established feel behind what you’re doing, the mutability of the signs involved in this configuration shows that shifts and changes are still possible and things are possibly still up in the air. Consider this like a soft launch for something much more definite by mid-2025.

If you’d like to learn more about the Jupiter Saturn square of 2024-2025, check out my lecture on The Astrology of 2025 where I dive deep into this transit and how you can personalise this in your natal chart.

The final major transit to drop before the new year is a Venus square Uranus (28 Dec), which promises to bring lots of quirks, excitement and social buzz to the end of your year. It’s a great one for celebrations especially with social groups that are united in values and causes. It will bring refreshment to tired group dynamics and could make for a great backdrop to the end of year celebrations.
