The new era is officially cemented into our reality with Pluto finally making its permanent move into Aquarius (20 Nov). If you’ve been following the astrology of the past couple of years, you might have heard that Pluto has been moving back and forth between the fringes of Capricorn and Aquarius since March 2023. With one foot stuck in the old world and the other foot dipping into the unknown path ahead, we’ve all witnessed the anxious uncertainty of our emerging times and the consequences of the old world demanding closure. Since March 2023, we’ve had a glimpse of the new era through new technologies, shifts in global collective alliances, reorganisation of bureaucratic structures and the changing dynamics of power between nations.

Personally, you’ll have Pluto moving into one of your houses for good. It will stay in this area for the next 20 years so there is a sense of personal reprogramming that’s happening right now, as if one chapter is ending and another begins. This won’t come as a shock to you as you’ve been gradually morphing into this new skin since March 2023. And, over the past few months, you’ve lived through all of Pluto’s final aspects in Capricorn which was likened to finding closure to past phases, especially anything that took place since 2008. Those stories are done, and new doors are opening as long as you’re courageous enough to walk through them.

In March 2023 when I presented a lecture at the World Astrology Day on the use of Triplicity Lords, using Pluto in Aquarius as my subject, I summarised these four points on what I believed the Pluto in Aquarius impact would be over the next 20 years.

  • Massive upgrade in the evolution of our species
  • Regeneration of society’s physical, economic and social structures
  • Discovery of new resources for humanity, including technological advancements
  • The elimination of destructive patterns in society

We can’t ignore the fundamental meaning of the Aquarian air sign holding the karmic backdrop of the next 20 years. Aquarius is a humane sign, putting the individual person at the crux of this 20-year vision. Of all three humane signs (Libra and Gemini being the other two), Aquarius relates to humans at the collective level. So it’s not just individual people we’re focusing on here, rather, it’s about communities.

The mythical story related to the sign of Aquarius is Prometheus, a clever trickster-like titan who stole the gift of fire from the Olympian Gods and spread it to the mortals who were suffering through life without warmth or nourishment. Fire provided them with better lifestyles, greater efficiencies in their ability to cook foods and expanded their ability to create new tools and items, not forgetting the awe-inspiring visions and ideas that fire can invoke. Pluto’s activation in the sign of Aquarius in 2023 saw the introduction of artificial intelligence to the people, mimicking the ‘fire technologies’ introduced to the mortals by Prometheus.

The hierarchical gap between the mortals and the Olympian Pantheon in the Promethean myth also signals the emerging theme of great division which we see in today’s world, with widening gaps emerging in many areas across the financial, ideological, political and religious spectrums. If this Aquarian backdrop holds true to the Promethean plot, we might see the gradual rise of marginal communities and ‘global south’ countries over the next two decades as they gain economic prominence. Perhaps technological advancements could be the ‘fire’ that will level the playing field and close the gap.

The intergovernmental organisation, BRICS, which started with the collective alliance of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in 2009, experienced a global expansion in 2023 (thanks to Pluto and Prometheus!) to become a major political force against the Western empires. With Pluto at the helm, we can expect to see politics, control, power, manipulation, transformation, destruction and rebuilding aplenty.

In other news for this week, we have a Mercury Jupiter opposition (18 Nov) which is another story that will ensue over November and December, similar to the Mercury Saturn square (13 Nov) which was covered last week. Last week’s encounter saw Mercury face up to the work and discipline that’s required for your long term plans. This week’s connection with Mercury is likely to see you get into the details of your vision in order to contextualise and birth your long term plan. There’s a lot of thinking, rationalising and agonising about new structures in your life during the November/December period. On one hand, there’s a lot of excitement and hope in creating something of tangible value, yet at the same time, significant pivots and crossroads need to be navigated which could cause anxieties and fears to creep in. November/December is a time to test something out, for you’ll never know if you never get past the scribble pad of ideas. It calls for action but be prepared for crisis, hard work, decision-making and problem-solving.

The Venus sextile Saturn (22 Nov) aspect perfects this week – a highlight and gift for the month of November. This mutually receptive partnership feels like a good wine curing in the barrel. As the highlight of this month, this aspect can help you to appreciate the important processes at work that will one day deliver long term value. It may also be a week where age and experience is appreciated. You may feel the strong nature of time as you learn to acknowledge its preciousness, rather than its lack. Your Capricorn and Pisces houses are where you should be focusing your attention on to make the  most of this transit.
