  • 14 Aug   Mars conjunct Jupiter
  • 15 Aug   Mercury enters Leo
  • 16 Aug   Mars square Saturn
  • 18 Aug   Mercury square Uranus

The standout event for this week is a very dynamic Mars Jupiter Conjunction (14 Aug) which is part of a bigger picture being presented to us this week. This is a big T-square configuration that will be felt for the next two weeks, involving the two malefic planets, Mars and Saturn, as well as the two benefic planets, Venus and Jupiter.

The first installment of this configuration starts when Mars and Jupiter come together. There’s lots of activity and dynamism when Mars and Jupiter conjoin, and their entrepreneurial spirit could springboard some exciting, stimulating and fulfilling results. On the other hand their impact could also be abrasive, aggravating and detrimental, leaving behind a mess to clean up. The common trait is that the nature of this pair will be short lived and unsustainable so if things turn bad, it won’t last long and vice versa.

A discovery of your confidence and personal capacity could be a helpful effect of Mars-Jupiter as this might encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone in order to tackle issues with gusto. If you’ve been stagnating on a particular topic, this could be the week where you could confront those things with a level of courage that you might not have realised you had. It’s a week where you could give yourself permission to push yourself beyond what you’re usually accustomed to in order to progress to new ground on a particular issue. Risk taking behaviour is very high with Mars and Jupiter energy.

But with that said, it’s important to have full intention on what exactly this ‘topic’ is. Is this something worth putting yourself out there for? Have you done a full risk assessment of the situation? With the courage and dynamism that this transit brings, there will also be the haste and impulse too. Jupiter’s expansive nature might increase Mars’ carelessness and volatility which could result in accidents and actions that bring conflict, regret and damage. Only take on what you need to. Or only invest your energy into the things that will matter in the long run, for the Mars-Jupiter effect is very short lived. Their energy capacity is unsustainable hence, don’t ‘bite off more than you can chew’.

One way to think about what projects might be worthwhile is to cast your mind back to December 2020 through to the 2021 year. At this time, the Saturn Jupiter Conjunction occurred in Aquarius, commencing a new 200-year cycle of these conjunctions occurring in the air triplicity signs. This was the big event of 2020/2021, which was reflected in society through the idea that we were entering ‘the new normal’ as the pandemic settled into the new geopolitical space. For the month of August, we will be witnessing the first quarter milestone of this Saturn Jupiter cycle – symbolising the materialisation of tangible structures related to the initial vision of 2020/2021. So if you’re looking for confirmation as to whether you’re channelling this week’s dynamic energy into the right pursuits, you’re probably on the right track if it relates to a bigger vision that you birthed or thought about from the Saturn Jupiter conjunction period. Meanwhile, any valid fears or concerns you might have had from that time could also be realised this week, indicating to you the challenges and changes required to move forward.

Speaking of challenges, Mars also squares Saturn (16 Aug) as part of this month’sT-square alignment.  The Mars Saturn square can show the frustrations and arduous efforts involved in the pursuit of your goals. Through this process, you might discover how much work is ahead of you or what is required of you in order for you to succeed.  At the same time, this Mars Saturn square can show you what you’re capable of if you push yourself to go further, therefore, you may just impress yourself with how productive you can be when you respond to the pressures. One way to use this Mars Saturn square is to engage in physically arduous tasks, be it an exercise regime, hard labour or activities involving strength and stamina. Anything that brings up a sweat would be a great remedy for tempering the force of this square.

With the Mercury Uranus square (18 Aug) and First Quarter Moon in Scorpio (12 August) adding to the square nature of this week, you might assume that this will be a week of great structural developments for whatever is going on for you. When creating anything of significance, there will be moments of anguish, frustrations and challenges that you must confront as part of the overall journey. This is one such week where you’ll find yourself deep within the mud which could soon be the bricks for your new home. Just as Thich Nhat Hanh’s book titled No Mud No Lotus suggests, there is no happiness without suffering. But given that suffering and happiness are both natural transitory states, so is your hardship and advantage.

So with the high tension squares this week and the next being presented to you, decide whether you might collect this mud and form your first brick or whether to wallow in this mess with rage about the lack of progress. You have an extraordinary amount of energy, courage, zeal and passion available to you this week, use it before it burns out too quickly but also beware that you don’t burn yourself out in the process.

Tread carefully with deliberate intention. More on this T-square’s next chapter in the following week’s news.

Thank you Shu, your wise words are important. In my chart in the next weeks two grand crosses are forming with my Moon at 16 degrees Sagittarius, North node in Gemini 15 degrees and my Scorpio ascendant at 26 degrees (and Virgo MC). Instead of being anxious (I am…), I will follow your advice for us, and see what the Universe will bring. Have a great week 😊
