Tensions could be on the verge of boiling over this week in a very Mars inspired sky. We start the week off with a big bang when Mars conjuncts Uranus (15 Jul) right on the same degree as the fixed star, Algol. This trio is as volatile as they come so expect to see some explosive, noisy and rambunctious energies (which probably started over the weekend). The common trait between all three is violence, accidents and strife.

Since Uranus entered into Taurus in 2018, it’s inevitable trajectory towards the fixed star, Algol at 26 degrees 10 minutes of Taurus was set. It took until the later half of 2022 until Uranus became within an influencing orb of this ‘dreaded’ star. But when Mars joins the party in August 2022, what we saw was the horrific Operation Breaking Dawn where Israel Defense Forces conducted around 147 airstrikes in Gaza, retaliated by Palestinian militants who fired over 1000 rockets back at Israel – almost to the exact day of this triple conjunction!

This week, we will see this volatile trio of Mars, Uranus and Algol connect again at the same place, almost two years later. Will we see another installment of this ongoing feud?

The heat of Mars is being tempered down, being in the cool earth sign of Taurus and receiving a sextile from watery Neptune. We might not see the outwardly explosive nature of Mars that we would expect, however, this doesn’t mean the level of spice is reduced. Rather, you may feel the presence of Mars between your teeth as you grind your frustrations away or see inflammation beneath your skin seeking ways to escape. So while things might have a lid on it, one would question whether it’s healthier to find ways to not have that lid on at all. It’s a double edged sword, and you’re probably ‘damned if you do or damned if you don’t’.

The Fixed Star, Algol, is found in the Perseus Constellation, located in Medusa’s head. This story tells of a monstrous demon, with slithering snakes as her hair and a gaze that could turn one into stone. Perseus slayed Medusa by decapitating her head which was later placed onto Athena’s shield for protection.

This multifaceted myth suggests that there are many layers of complexity and possibilities. While it’s one of those weeks where you might feel the peak of your frustrations, anger and resentments rise to your presence, if this energy can be harnessed, very powerful momentum can be built upon. As the myth suggests, a monster was removed which prevented many more lives from being taken. Do you know any monsters causing harm? Maybe this week might help diminish their impact. The energy of Algol has also been used for protection and security, this is both within the physical realm and the guarding of spiritual spaces.

Another key concern are health matters with such volatile energies grouping together. The head region is highlighted given Mars rules the head and Algol symbolises Medusa’s head and decapitations. If you’re prone to headaches and migraines, you may consider some preventative strategies early on (like now, at the time of publishing this). Inflammation, rashes, blood, iron and heat-induced conditions should also be on high vigilance this week.  Avoid food or drinks that might trigger headaches and migraines.  The tendency to act on impulse and rush around erratically could also lead to accidents and mishaps. Likewise, upsetting those around you with impatience, insults and insensitivity is also a high risk.

The connection with Uranus, which rules electricity and technology, could also show issues with electrocution or malfunctioning electronic devices that could cause problems. Interestingly, Algol is also known for producing events of electrocution. The Sun’s sextile to Uranus (18 Jul) and Mercury’s square to Uranus (18 Jul) brings this unpredictability to the week which we will be able to feel in our nervous system and mental wellbeing.

Things should ease off at the end of the week with the dispersal of this stellium as Mars enters Gemini (21 Jul) and Venus and Jupiter form a harmonious sextile (21 Jul).  At least you’ll have the Full Moon in Capricorn (21 Jul) to make sense of the week’s events.

All of this activity will be playing out in your Taurus house of your natal chart. Try to tap into the stability and slowness of Taurus to stay grounded. Afterall, it’s the cool ground of Taurus that will be the main tempering strategy for Mars and the earthing of the Uranian electricity.

Dear Shu, thank you yet again. I have this powerful conjunction happening on my descendant at 26 degrees, I read that having Algol there can be protective (I hope it’s true). I have been a bit anxious I have to admit, but fear is always a bad whisperer. Fingers crossed nonetheless, hoping for this energy to be positive more than negative! Have a nice week ☺️
