Having read many client charts and explored their biographies in detail, I have observed times of noticeable themes that we all seem to experience at the same stages of life. These themes tend to have a dynamic nature, usually experienced by some kind of crisis, crossroads or climax.

As a general observation, we can understand the early twenties to be a dynamic time of crucial choices and fated encounters, occurring with a sense of naivety and exploration.

In the late twenties and early thirties, we encounter responsibility and obligations as we navigate through the structures of our long-term survival.

In the early to mid forties, we undergo some major analysis of our philosophical worldview that lead to decisions which authenticate our existence.

In the mid to late fifties phase, there are some serious reassessments of our purpose as we reconcile the rewards and regrets of our past decisions.

Of course, we don’t necessarily need astrology to come to these broad conclusions about life. However, when we track the cycles of the outer planet orbits from our birth position, we start to see the synchronicity between these types of biographical experiences with the activation of planetary archetypes through the critical points in their cycle, namely the square, opposition and return (conjunction) points.

As they say, ‘everything happens for a reason’ but when you’re amidst a crisis, there’s nothing more infuriating than not knowing that reason is! But, by viewing this situation within the context of planetary transits, we can get a sense of what these archetypes are trying to inform in our realities. It gives us an understanding of a greater purpose behind our experiences, the evolutionary backdrop of our crisis and the complementary actions that we can take to support this archetypal relationship. Being aware of these planetary activations allows us to step into our agency as a “co-creative participant in the unfolding and refining of those (archetypal) potentials” (Richard Tarnas, Cosmos and Psyche).

During the Seven Sisters Festival in March 2020, I will be presenting these key ideas around the activation of planetary archetypes during the lifetime of an individual. We will explore the unfolding of the outer planet cycles (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) as well as the Secondary Progressed Moon cycle and the Lunar Node cycle, and what experiences / themes tend to occur at these times. We will also apply these cycles to some case studies of notable celebrities.
