Following last week’s  Saturn Retrograde phase, we have a Neptune Retrograde (2 Jul) this week. What does this mean? Probably a whole lot of contradictions and confusion from what you’ve read last week! Both Saturn and Neptune are mismatched bedfellows – there’s not many planetary pairs that are this polarised. Saturn is all about structure, form, boundaries and discipline while Neptune is intangible, impressionable, nebulous and whimsical.

Since March 2023, Saturn and Neptune have been in the same sign of Pisces. Over a three year period, this incongruous couple will edge closer together until they finally make an exact conjunction in February 2026, symbolising their union in the initiating sign of Aries. Right now, we’re just over the second year of this three-year process of merging our own inner contradictions. What’s happening at a greater level is that we’re being encouraged to resolve opposing forces within ourselves. This may look like having two important desires that might be difficult to pursue without sacrificing the other. Or perhaps it’s being in a state of disbelief that you could reconcile two such polarising goals together.

This idea of this strange reconciliation is the same stuff of the proverbial dreams manifesting into reality. The sense of wonder, inspiration and trust following an equally powerful period of resistance, adversity and disbelief is what Saturn and Neptune can create in this process of dream manifestation. In 1989 when Saturn and Neptune came together, the collapse of the Berlin wall symbolised this kind of feat where unimaginable freedom, democracy and cooperation was suddenly a possibility. The previous time this conjunction formed in 1952-1953, Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary became the iconic symbol of endurance (Saturn) and exploration (Neptune) when they were the first people to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

So what can you expect from this week’s Neptune Retrograde, following on Saturn’s Retrograde last week? Well, if you can contemplate the wisdom that these two planets are offering, you might be able to acknowledge the process of ‘dream making’ within you that’s currently occurring. Even if you’re finding it tough to make sense of your purpose or feeling overwhelmed by the struggle of attaining your goals, you’re required to sit within a tension of discordant resistance and hopelessness. By all means, feel all the feels and be melodramatic if you wish – a Neptune Station is your invitation to do so. It’s ok to feel as if you want to give it all up. Material existence will seem hard when Neptune is strong. As long as you give yourself permission to stew in this soup this week, rather than trying to escape through unhealthy means, you will pull out of this little dip and infuse new inspiration into your dream making process. Check out your Pisces house – this will inform you of what your dreams are being made out of.

Mercury trines the Stationing Neptune (2 Jul) and opposes Pluto (3 Jul) which will help you get into a mindset of curiosity and exploration. This week is the week to ask yourself some big questions that can challenge any limitations that stand between you and your goals. Be curious about the possibilities, no matter how absurd they seem.

There’s other supportive aspects that could help you to manifest your goals this week too. Venus trine Saturn (3 Jul) lends well to bringing long term value to your pursuits so while this transit can bring positive outcomes, it’s not something you might benefit from straight away. It teaches us patience and the beauty of slowness. Venus trine Saturn is also a good transit for bringing beauty into form and structure, so think about how you can incorporate the things that you love and value into a tangible sense that can be enjoyed in the long term.

If you’re finding the stationing Neptune influence too strong, Mars will sextile Saturn (5 Jul) shortly after which will help pull you out of any slump you might get yourself into. It’s influence will be gently dynamic so you can finish off the week as you come into the New Moon in Cancer (5 Jul) with some sense of productivity if you play your cards right.
