Interpsycle Observator: 12 June – 18 June 2023

Transit dates
  • 17 Jun   Mercury sextile Venus
  • 17 Jun   Saturn Retrograde

All dates are stated in Universal Time (UT 0:00hrs). Please adjust for your timezone.

Our list of transits look rather scant this week, but this is certainly in keeping with the theme  of a stationing Saturn Retrograde (17 Jun). Even though Saturn won’t change directions until later this week, you can often feel the effects of a direction change a week either side.

This is also the first time Saturn is moving retrograde in the sign of Pisces in 30 years so it’s a good observational period to understand your personal Saturn in Pisces story  which activated in March 2023. Watch for events, patterns and themes coming up this week as they will be meaningful milestones for the next two years, even if you can’t see the relevance yet.

A stationing (aka stopping) planet gives us a strong dose of its themes that can be felt internally as well as experienced externally in our environment. If a situation emerges during a stationing retrograde planet, it’s common that it features in our lives until that same planet moves direct again and a resolution is achieved. In this case Saturn will be retrograde this week and will move forward again on 4 November – another date to add to your calendar.

Those undergoing a Saturn timelord activation will be feeling the effects of this week’s retrograde strongly. To a degree, anyone with a strong Saturn rulership will also be impacted by this station. If you need to review how to best handle the Saturn Retrograde over the next five months, book an express reading (existing client) or forecast session (new clients).

Here are some possible Saturnian themes that you might encounter this week:

PESSIMISM – Within our emotions, we could feel rather bland, boring and pessimistic when Saturn stations retrograde. Think of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh – he is the archetype of Saturn – reliably dark, quick to have a whinge, yet solidly present and loyal. Saturn prefers solitude so you too could feel the urge to retreat and hermit this week. If dark thoughts enter your mind, acknowledge them and understand that this is a time of entertaining your depressive states and giving them a space for reckoning.

LIMITATIONS – Walls are Saturn’s love language, whether they be erected by yourself to guard a vulnerable place or by someone else to seemingly make life difficult by causing delays and obstructions. Limitations could be experienced in many ways – in your body, your psychological mindset, emotional exchanges or your physical environment. Often Saturn throws you a barrier because you might not have thought things through well enough – it’s  his way of testing the viability of your ideas. Retrogrades are time for reconsideration too, so if you’re feeling the limitations this week, make some time to reassess your situation. With Saturn, often less is more, so consider where you can cut back and adopt a more minimal approach.

AUSTERITY – it’s about the serious things this week, no frills, just pragmatism and seeing reality for what it is. The favoured approach is one of discipline. Find something that you can devote yourself to this week and get into the detail and commitment of the task, like a disciple would to his/her practice. Saturn will be retrograde until 4 November, so you might like to think of a serious project that you could dedicate your time to for the next five months. Saturn rules over building and agriculture so these could be some themes but it’s important to look at where Pisces is in your chart and what houses Saturn rules to come to a more personalised inspiration.

FOUNDATIONS – how stable and secure do you feel right now? In Pisces, the rock solid foundations that Saturn is known for are seriously challenged. What you thought to be an unswerving reality before March 2023 might no longer be that dependable anymore. Part of the Saturn in Pisces lesson is to adapt to shaky ground where things can change like the ocean tides. This concept might become quite obvious as Saturn makes its station this week and amps up the vulnerability factor. Use this stationing week to identify your important foundations holding you up in life. What are they – your job, living situation, relationship boundaries, financial stability, your health? Then assess whether these foundations need further development or reframing because Saturn likes to build long term structures around them. This could inspire your five month Saturn Retrograde project. Building themes are also a Saturn thing.

HARD WORK & OBLIGATION – Duties call when Saturn is strong. It’s not about what you want or what you feel like, it’s about what you should. No short cuts, just real work. There’s no escaping your accountability this week and Saturn will make sure the appropriate consequences are allotted. The Grim Reaper is a well-known symbol of Saturn because there’s no escaping death when it’s your time, just as the Three Fates know too well. The scythe that the Reaper holds, symbolises the inescapable cycles that beholds the agricultural rulership of Saturn. Get to work!

TIME – The original Chronocrator of the universe, Saturn demonstrates the importance of time and the wisdom to wait for Kairos, the right moment of opportunity. Don’t be surprised if you get caught in the web of time this week and experience the frustration of slowness, delays, hold-ups and obstacles. Behind the harsh teacher of Saturn is a patient and strategic operator, or maybe that good bottle of red wine. See how you might use time as an advantage or solution this week if you come across any barriers.

NEGATION – It’s a no. And you’ll hear this word a lot this week. Not a good week to ask for favours or that promotion you were after, unless of course, you don’t really want it!

BOUNDARIES – Like them or not, you might be faced with dealing with them this week – the breaching, establishment, communication or enforcement of. A good week to reassess where your personal boundaries lie in the sand – do they need to be adapted to your changing environment? Have you been respectful of boundaries yourself? Are you clear with your boundaries?

Lastly, Saturn’s omens can be seen in the elderly, the homeless, beggars as well as our skeletal system, bones and joints. Incorporating some charitable energy or management of these areas might help ease the harshness of this Saturn Retrograde week.
