It’s a busy sky this week, centering around the third (and final) Mars Neptune square that has been a signature of the Mars Retrograde period commenced on 30 October 2022. Mars square Neptune (15 Mar) can be times of frustration felt from lack of clarity, motivation and direction. Procrastination might be strong even if there’s a lot to do. Perhaps it’s the feelings of overwhelm that might be crippling your ability to take action and be effective. There may be a tendency to take short cuts or fudge your way through the week, which may be a challenge to your integrity. Be mindful that your fuse could be a little bit shorter this week so allow yourself to feel more into compassion and understanding. In terms of potential conflict, this non-confrontational Neptunian influence over Mars can turn towards more subversive tactics, manipulation, passive aggressiveness, resentment, guilt-tripping, secrets, slander and other more indirect forms of warfare. It’s important to be conscious of these traits within yourself, but also to watch them coming your way. Scams fit well in this symbolism. Infections and illnesses might also be more susceptible with Mars Neptune this week so load up on your immunity medicines.

But in the larger context of this transit, Mars made its first square to Neptune on 12 October, the second on 19 November and this week Mars and Neptune square off again on 15 March, which is resolving a six month story that could have seen you confronting an important issue that has been slippery and complex to get control over. If you’ve been dealing with issues with themes of fraud, dishonesty, deceit, addiction, confusion, guilt, gaslighting, victimisation and manipulation over the past six months, hopefully the final square of Mars and Neptune perfecting this week will help disperse or finalise the battles and frustrations you’ve experienced around them.

There were not many positives that I could extract from this Mars Neptune square when I wrote about it last year. However, one opportunity I saw was to direct this energy towards selfless service or spiritual devotion. Personally I stepped up my daily devotional practice during this time, and I hope you too may have taken this on board and feeling the benefits of greater spiritual commitment.

On this third Mars Neptune occasion, the Sun and Mercury will be joining this configuration. The Sun and Mercury are travelling together, making a conjunction with Neptune and squaring Mars over this week whilst making a Superior Cazimi. All of this will happen on 17 March.

The Mercury Cazimi (17 Mar) is a moment of realisation and insight that you can receive on the very day that this aspect occurs. Often, the planets that are configured to the Mercury Cazimi can indicate the issues about which downloads can be received. Being configured to the Mercury Neptune square suggests that this Mercury Cazimi moment might bring some clarity and understanding about this six month issue that might have been frustrating, confusing or dubious. With intention, or even by default, this Mercury Cazimi could offer some greater understanding and new perspectives that might allow you to resolve some of these frustrations that have been occupying your energy for the past few months. 

To get the most out of Mercury Cazimi, you’ll need to listen and observe intently for omens, subtleties and ideas coming to you. Other gifts of Mercury Cazimi could be clarity of communication – writing, speaking, creative arts; auspiciousness and luck when asking for special favours and requests from superiors; and active dreams or revelations. Ritualising this moment can bring clearer and more effective results. 

Venus will also play a role on this busy transit day. Immediately after Venus squares Pluto (17 Mar), she’ll also enter into her home sign of Taurus (17 Mar) where she’ll gain back her powers of manifestation, boosting the potential benefits that might be offered up during the Cazimi. Squaring Pluto first will help unearth hidden resources that could be available to you. These could be tangible resources like money, gifts, assets, etc. or intangible resources such as support services, assistance, promotion, referrals, etc. I once saw an astrologer share that her client found a HUGE amethyst point while prospecting during a Venus Pluto transit. (Venus = gems, Pluto = underground). Not that I’m saying everyone will find a huge nugget under this transit, but the combination of all these powerful transits could at least bring to your awareness the huge potential of what you could be. But for all those punters out there, I reckon it’s worth every shot on this day to reach closer towards your dreams, especially given that this all drops on a Friday, the day of Venus. Why not start your morning with a Venus invocation*** for good measure.

Finally, Venus ends the week with a sextile to Saturn (18 Mar). Saturn is recently in its new sign of Pisces, and for the first time in about 2.5 years, it won’t be squaring (and therefore blocking the good of) Venus whilst in her home sign of Taurus. Rather, Saturn forms a sextile to Venus, allowing this transit to further support you in bringing a structure and reality to your desires.
