It’s a big week of astrology this week, not only because of the eclipse but due to many other aspects happening around it that adds to the complexity.
The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus (8 Nov) will carry the nature of Rahu (North Node), known as the greedy and deceitful dragon serpent who was decapitated as it stole the precious amrita (elixir of life) from the devas (divine beings). This eclipse will activate an ambition to find success and seek out material gains, especially in the area of life ruled by the house of Taurus in your natal chart. You could find yourself busy diving into projects with intense zeal and obsession in order to gain progress in this area. Where is your Taurus house? Do you feel energised to achieve and make progress in this area of life?
The fullness of the moon provides a lot of energy towards the chase of your ambitions and desires this week. But beware that wherever the dragon head goes, it tends to poison whatever it touches. In this case, the Moon and Uranus will receive the eclipse poison resulting in possibilities of a poisoned mind, being the brain function of the heartspace. The tendency towards unrealistic ideas and expectations could be the poison you may receive. Greed and insatiable desires can overtake all rationality in the guise of a logical solution. If you’d rather avoid the “seemed like a good idea at the time” phrase, it’s best to remain cautious of offers and ideas this week. It’s not a good time to be making big decisions or launching into new projects right now. Your mind can not be trusted currently, nor can you trust others either.
In fact, Rahu can be personified as the successful business person that lies and cheats towards obtaining wealth, just as the dragon disguised itself to steal the elixir. Scams, scoundrels and sinister acts and anything of this nature could be seen or personified this week, both in your external environment or as a recognition of a shadow trait. Ghosts and spirit activity will also be heightened and it’s important to maintain strong protection protocols in your magical practices, as always. Those working with clients in any capacity should try to maintain some distance if possible (limit your schedule) and increase clearing practices before and after sessions. Best to keep a low profile and stay out of the drama.
Eclipses are also connected to natural and major disaster events. I’ve noticed that this has been particularly observable in the earthy, land-based sign of Taurus. With Uranus activating all the Taurus eclipses since late 2021, I’ve seen major disruptions with utility services such as electricity. These are all possibilities for the upcoming eclipse this week.
Venus (10 Nov) and Mercury (13 Nov) will trine Neptune this week too and add to the flow of deception and irrationality flowing your way. With these two compassionate trines, there’s a chance you could be swayed into doing something that’s beyond your capacity. Your tendency towards empathy could leave your boundaries vulnerable, and the imaginative capacity of Neptune could provide grand ideas that feed into the Rahu’s greedy hands, adding to the poor decision making environment. The risk of illusions becoming reality is a real risk with these configurations.
A better way to use the Venus Mercury trines to Neptune is to indulge in imaginative play spaces that stay in the imaginal realm. There’s no pressure to materialise them right now, let them remain as internal muses and dreams until a better time to harvest them into reality.
The Saturn Uranus square that we know too well will also be a key signature of this eclipse. Venus (7 Nov), Mercury (10 Nov) and Sun (11 Nov) will make a square to the rigid, rule-loving Saturn while Mercury and Sun will oppose the rule-breaking Uranus (9 Nov) at the same time as the Mercury-Sun Cazimi (9 Nov). This comes off the back of Venus having opposed Uranus last week.
Freedoms followed by blockages, and enforcements being resisted will be a key flavour of the Saturn Uranus square involved in this week’s aspects. I won’t go into too much detail of this square as you can read a longer treatment of this in my article, Saturn square Uranus: Dismantle and Recalibrate, that I published in January 2021.
On a side note, Uranus and Rahu share a common theme of taboos, unusualness and eccentricity. It will be interesting to see whether examples of these themes will play out this week. Personally, for example, this could look like saying something a bit out of line with political correctness or raising issues that are shunned by others or doing something that ostracises you from a group. What other examples could be possibilities in your life context that you can think of? Be sure to comment below if you notice anything of this nature.
My key phrase for the Saturn Uranus theme that I came up with almost two years ago was ‘systemic restructure’ and since February 2021, we’ve been called to participate in this theme, both intrinsically as well as externally. You too may look back over the last two years and notice a huge shift in perspective and practice around some very foundational aspects of your life and community. There’s only one more month until this Saturn Uranus square separates from a three degree orb until another 20 (approx.) years, so this Eclipse and Cazimi is like the finale act of the systemic restructure show.
So rather than to act, make decisions and manifest anything right now, I urge you to spend some time on the Mercury Cazimi to reflect on the past two years and acknowledge how far you’ve travelled. As challenging as it can be, larger transits like this one only come around several times within a lifetime and they play a significant role to jolt individuals or entire communities out of a stagnant structure. Systemic change is hard to navigate and as a culture born into a time of significant turns of the wheel, you ARE the change for this time in history. Use the Cazimi to consider how your envelopment of change can be poured back into community. As the Joseph Campbell Hero’s Journey monomyth goes, after the Hero / Heroine slays their dragon, they must face their final encounter to integrate their experiences back into their ‘normal’ ordinary life. This could point to the mastery of oneself through the world of spirit and matter, or more mundanely, it could look like an integration of one’s experiences into community through sharing and service.
Here are the exact Mercury Cazimi times if you wish to sit within the ‘download’ window or to ceremonialise the event.

Thank you Shu for this article and your pieces of advice. For me this Saturn / Uranus opposition has been playing between first and seventh house, forcing myself to be alone and not engaging in any romantic relationship. I feel it’s time to let go of this isolation, but it’s scary. We’ll see!
