We have some uplifting news for this week which opens with a New Moon in Libra. Granted, Libra’s ruler Venus, is still diving into the abyss which sets a general underworld tone to this entire lunar cycle. And, Mars is still in its shadow period which is the precursor to its upcoming Retrograde frustrations. But, there are some really great aspects this week to help us make the most of a challenging situation through our resourcefulness, creativity, productivity and perspective. Venus will also be entering her home of Libra (29 Sep) which will boost our ability to experience joy and possibly take some time out for indulgence. At the very least, if things have been intense for you recently, you may get some little respites of positivity and glimpses of hope this week. Take the time to step into the flow of life and trust that the right things should come with ease.
Venus and Mercury are travelling swiftly together, side by side, as they usually do when Venus is at the midway point of her 584-day cycle. Whenever Venus and Mercury travel together, we can expect times of high magic, creativity, craftsmanship and artistry. Many creatives have this conjunction in their natal charts because it shows a deep fertile impulse to express beauty, love and creation in some form of material reality.
This week, Venus and Mercury will trine Pluto (26 & 27 Sep), which will intensify the urge to express your creative potential, at the point where focus meets obsession. In the same week, Venus will also oppose Jupiter (2 Oct) which will expand your perspective and understanding to greater levels of enrichment. Your talents and creative flair could reach new heights of mastery under this configuration. You don’t need to be a musician, artist or creative to benefit from this configuration, although you certainly will love this if you are in these fields. For the most, you may notice the artistry in the way you communicate with people around you. Speaking from your innermost emotions and vulnerabilities could seem a bit easier this week, like a natural spring bursting forth from your heart space. Listen to your deep creative urges this week as they seek expression and acknowledgement for the beauty and love that they can offer. Open a space with someone to share your truth or to tell them what they mean to you. With Venus in her underworld phase, this process is a potential pathway to the healing of your relationship and financial wounds.
The Sun’s opposition to Jupiter (27 Sep) will have the potential to reveal the greater perspectives surrounding your life situation. The mission of the Jupiter cycle is to expand your consciousness in the hope that you can unify your material life with the larger cosmic plan at play, so that you can connect back to your spiritual source. The opposition with the Sun this week sees Jupiter at exactly the midway point in this mission where themes of conflicts, polarisations and antagonism exist. Here, you can see all the truths laid out in front of you – some hard to take, others more accepting. It is at this point, during this week, where you’ll be challenged to integrate these truths about your current path. You may confront a situation that forces you to test your faith in something or challenge your ability to trust the greater forces around you.
Mars’ trine with Saturn (28 Sep) will offer you a productive week, whatever you may be doing. But, the best kinds of productivity will show through in things that require hard work, physical labour or strenuous activity as this is the nature of Mars and Saturn. You’ll have access to endurance and strong bursts of power under this transit which can make for constructive outcomes. So, make use of this hardcore trine to tackle jobs that you have been procrastinating or that require strength and endurance.
We’re now one week into the new cardinal quarter which started at the Equinox last week. You may remember that this Equinox commenced at the same time as a new Mercury cycle. Mercury will start to rise in the morning skies this week (29 Sep), then shortly after that, Mercury Stations Direct (2 Oct) thus completing its Retrograde phase. Watch for a shift occurring this week as the momentum slowly starts to build again, especially around anything that you may have thought about at the Equinox / Mercury Cazimi last week. Intentions that were initiated at the Equinox / Mercury Cazimi may start to feel more real or their possibilities could start emerging into your field shortly. If things have felt stagnant over the past three weeks, there could be a sense of a turnaround of events this week so watch for shifts in perception, your mindset, your thoughts and ideas. If you’re in a Mercury profection year, are a Gemini or Virgo or have a prominent Mercury in your natal chart, chances are that you’ll strongly feel a positive shift of moving in the right direction again. Also check which houses Gemini or Virgo are ruling as these areas will also feel the changing of the Mercury tides.

Hi, I’m Shu.
As a professional astrologer with nearly 20 years of study, I do more than read charts for clients. I embody astrological lore in my every day life as a grower, beekeeper, mother, art hobbyist and a dabbler of planetary magic. Guiding, translating, writing, timing, observing, crafting, counselling and teaching are all things I do to bring astrology to the world.

Thanks Shu! I’m looking forward to obnoxious Mercury leaving his retrograde. He always really tortures me when he’s retrograding! Maybe he’s more of a “day person” and when he rises as the morning star he’s be out of trickster mode! LOL.. You once mentioned a passage by Abu Mashar regarding astrologers readings and I’m trying to find it but can’t. Do you recall the chapter (green book) and/or pages? Thank you again for these great weekly blogs! Happy Equinox!
Hi Jodie. I’m not sure I recall what I said about ‘astrologers readings’ – could you please define that? There’s a section in Abu Mashar (Book 1, Chapter 4) that talks about his arguments around criticisms of the Solar Revolutions technique. Most of the book is really about technique.
Would you be referring to Maternus by any chance? I did speak about his passage (Book 2, Chapter 31) regarding the sort of life and practices an astrologer ought to have – would it be that one?
Oh yes!!!! It was Maternus! Thanks Shu!
My pleasure – now let’s see how we can all be “pure and chaste” !!
Very excited about your you tube channel. Love your teachings and insights
Awww thank-you! I’m excited and daunted at the same time – I hope there’ll be something on there for you.
