The Venus Jupiter square (25 July) at the beginning of this week offers positivity, enthusiasm and a sense of fulfillment and joy. These are the two benefic planets, known for bringing good things to us, both intrinsically and materially like success, abundance, happiness, hope and upliftment. They are squaring each other from Cardinal signs, meaning that your inner drive to initiate or bring action to your desires and needs will be high. Opportunities could present themselves early this week like a fast flowing river with winds of chance, luck and serendipity behind your back. Mercury’s Evening Rise (26 July) the following day will also add to the swiftness and auspiciousness of the week’s beginning. Enjoy the boat ride and remind yourself how grateful you are for the life you have.

But rivers can be dangerous places and the cross-purpose square of Venus and Jupiter could also present some challenges. Dilemmas could occur when there’s too much to choose from, too many wants, an over-zealous amount of energy and enthusiasm combined with a fear of missing out and an inability to say ‘no’. Over-spending, over-committing, over-whelming, over-everthing. Nature has its way of maintaining an equilibrium and the Jupiter Venus square is one way to tip that balance. While it’s important to celebrate the good times, the impact of this winning planetary pair will be short lived as Jupiter will be stationing Retrograde by the end of the week.

Don’t be fooled by a false sense of victory that you could feel at the beginning of this week. The Stationing Jupiter shows an exaggeration of its essence in the collective that could be pulling you into its allure. Leadership, success, fame, wealth, status, honours, luck, opportunities, hope, travel, study, truth and wisdom are qualities that Jupiter naturally emits – and you may feel these qualities strongly this week as Jupiter stations (aka stops), thus concentrating its energy on the collective. The 8-9 degrees of Aries in your chart will be where Jupiter will stop to percolate its qualities – check this area of life for any significant reflections and impulses that are occurring.

As Jupiter changes directions, so too will all Jupiter-ruled situations in your life. In addition to where Jupiter is stopping, look also at the Sagittarius and Pisces houses in your chart as these areas will signify a change of luck or turnround of events. Those with Jupiter as a timelord will certainly have a week of significance. There’s a possibility that you may need to re-think some of your plans or go back to the drawing board to improve some matters, causing some frustrations.  Note this week in your calendar, because it’s likely the events of this week will be significantly tied to 24 November when Jupiter stops to go direct again. Consider this four-month period an incubation of sorts, where your truths and philosophies will be tested, reimagined and expanded through triggers of disillusionment, disappointments and hopelessness.

By the New Moon in Leo (29 July), as you turn inward to reflect on your own essence, some important realisations may come to you thanks to the New Moon’s trine to the stationing Jupiter. Planets making their first station of their cycle are said to have the effect of one’s anticipation of challenges and a feeling of dissolution and destruction. As is the case for Jupiter this week, you could feel as though some of your ideas are not working out as you had planned, you’re losing motivation behind what you’re doing or sensing some issues emerging. The inward pull of the New Moon harmonising with the retractive state of Jupiter points exactly to what you could be doing this week – that is, to go within to your centre and resist the urge to expand outwardly, as these external efforts could prove to be futile. The message of this lunation is to look inside for your truth and tap into your sovereignty by emanating your divine will. In the dark of the New Moon, you’re called to emit your own light to find your path forward.

The alignment of this New Moon prepares us for an intense August, culminating at a Mars/Uranus/North Node conjunction next week (2 Aug). This is arguably one of the most highly anticipated aspects of the year due to its potential for volatility, excessiveness and explosiveness. There’ll be more on this aspect in next week’s Observator, but for this week, you may get an entree of what this configuration means as the newly rising Mercury squares Mars, Uranus and the North Node, while opposes Saturn (27-31 July). Mercury’s contact with this configuration could agitate, disrupt and stir the pot this week leading to a culmination of heated events / situations next week. Be mindful of your communication and actions this week as there will be consequences for any lapses in tact and respectfulness that could occur this week. Snipey remarks, over-sharing of unwanted opinions, uncalled for commentary and unconscious communications are all possible under the arrangement this week. This also applies to the written word too – it may be worth sleeping on emails / letters before you send them just to be sure they’re appropriate.  Misunderstandings and communication blockages are also quite possible as Mercury is opposing Saturn, so even if you didn’t intend to be snipey, this opposition could see such miscommunications occur.

What can you do about this configuration this week? Knowing that this is part of a bigger, intense picture that’s still to come, the best strategy is to minimise any risk of issues flaring in the first place. One sympathetic remedy of Mercury, the activator of this configuration this week, is to align with the quality of wind, which it rules. Getting fresh air is a must to calm the nervous system. Breathwork is also a great Mercury activity. Journaling and writing is a fantastic outlet for anger, resentment or frustrations. Clearings with incense and smoke are also connected to the wind element. Simply opening windows in your home is an act of honouring Mercury. The more you can consciously offer Mercury a space to exist in your ephemeral world, the less likely this cosmic trickster will pave its own way through your life like a hurricane. Aim for calm, cool breezes instead.
