Moon Gardening Calendar (Aug/Sep 2020)

by | Aug 12, 2020 | Moon Gardening

Every month, on the Saturday closest to the waning 3rd Quarter Moon, I meet with Lou Lorback and Claire Reynolds from Dig It – Gardening Is Not Cancelled, a weekly garden show on 94.9 Main FM, to talk about optimal times to plant, prune and rest for the upcoming lunar cycle.

Here is a summary of the dates that we discussed for the episode on Saturday 15th August, covering the period between 15 August 2020 to 11th September 2020.

Optimal times for planting

21 / 22 / 23 Aug (1st Quarter, Moon in Libra)

Fertile for planting, especially annuals for flowering display and anything with seeds outside of the fruit/flower. Also a good time to till soil and turn compost.

24 / 25 Aug (1st Quarter, Moon in Scorpio)

Fertile for planting to promote sturdiness and vine growth in plants, great for annuals with seeds outside of fruit/flower. Also a good time to till soil and turn compost.

28 / 29 Aug (2nd Quarter, Moon in Capricorn)

Fertile for planting especially for plants requiring strong stalks, roots and annuals with seeds inside the fruit/flower

2 Sep (2nd Quarter, Moon in Pisces)

Fertile for planting to promote strong roots, and any annuals with seeds inside the fruit/flower

7 / 8 Sep (3rd Quarter, Moon in Taurus)

Fertile for planting to promote hardiness and rapid growth especially trees, perennials and anything growing on the same root stock every year
